happy birthday dad...best steak ever...pic loaded
Filets tonights. Egged the bacon wrapped gold potatoes, in a pan with valdalia onions and fresh chopped parsley.
Grilled romaine.
This is the best steak you've ever done...redneck tub and they were at 105...cast iron on the hot plate bathed in herb butter. I gotta say they were damn good. It could be done on the egg but I had too much going on. I didn't get any real good pictures of the steak...

@Dobie - Grilling romaine is super easy and really surprising. Simply cut in half a big romaine heart. Remove the loose dark leaves. Brush all the sides with olive oil and sprinkle coarse salt all over. You are now ready to grill both sides. I had succes with temperatures as low as 250F after a low and slow or as high as 600F after searing steaks. What you want is some nice grill marks on the flat side and some color on the other side, that's about 1 minute per side (more or less depending on the grill temp). After grilling, you can chop the salad or serve an entire half (like a boat). You can top it with whatever you want, we like avocados, tomatoes, raspberries, mandarin oranges, parmesan cheese and nuts with a balsamic dressing.
Now that henapple is posting this, I am thinking bacon wrapped romaine.... I may be onto something.
