Thank you brother. It's your fault that I had to buy her a mini!!!

I am setting here with 2 Larges and the Mini. Would get rid of the Larges before the Mini. Bet we use the Mini 80% of the time. Minis Rule.

@SGH - Welcome to your better half, nice job.

@Mickey - you ever cooked on a small? Talked to a dealer the other day who offered me a great price on a small. Have no need for portability, can always use another egg.

My first Egg was a Small (got it with American Airline points). Then first Large and a Mini. We just never used the Small do sold it. The two Large and Mini just work for me.
Salado TX & 30A  FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

My wife also cooks on the egg. It's a dream come true! ;) Nothing like seeing the egg smoking away when coming home after a long day of work. It's great. She's even challenged me to cook offs with the eggs. So beware! :))

It put a smile on my face to see her want her own egg. If she ever wants to challenge me to a cook off I will do the only thing that will keep me in her good graces. Lose!

Yes it is. I have been playing with it since my wife finished her chicken and steaks. I cooked several red hots some ham steaks and two burgers just to see how it would perform. I'm honestly more than impressed with its performance thus far. Fixing to do a few shrimp. After that I'm doing a rack of baby back ribs. That will be the true test. So far I'm a believer.

@SGH - please congratulate your wife for me on an excellent first egg cook.

If ya'll aren't doing anything Sat evening, I'm cooking some butts and we're having a shin-dig at my buddy's house who lives about 50 yards from us.  You and your wife are welcome.  They have a beautiful house and are the kindest people you'll ever meet.

Sure, more the merrier.  Starts at 6:30-7-ish.  You can drop by my crib earlier and feel free to take a ride on my new bike. Or hang out.  Plenty of that keg left and we just got a shipment of good wine in for your wife.

We will be there brother. I think you will like my son. He is a power drinker. He is pretty humorous as well and plays a mean guitar.

I'm sure I will like him if he takes after his old man, fire-starting ability aside.  The NOLA alcohol supply is nearly endless.  I keep a bountiful stock as if another Katrina will hit at any moment.  And there are a few guitars here that he is welcome to play.

@SGH - absolutely on the help.  I'll be cooking the butts on the large and have the medium free if you want to come early and be creative.  Also have a gasser, cold smoker and fire pit.  I have a Restaurant Depot and Costco card - we can make a road trip and get creative.  I was planning on fishing in the morning but I cancelled because I think I'll throw the butts on early rather than FTC after a night cook.

@SGH - I can get the low-n-slow stuff started early, then it's hands off until it's done.

We could make some appetizer stuff, nuclear ABTs, BBQ shrimp, brown butter scallops.....whatever.  Figure it out based on what's fresh at the store.  I think we can knock that stuff out in a few hours, so say 3PM?  I'm just augmenting whatever they have at the party.  Usually they cook stuff and hire one or two people to keep the food table stocked and keep everything orderly.  Hell, we could wheel my large over there and the kegerator and make stuff on the fly.

One party I wheeled over a cart with a 4' ladder strapped on it.  I attached a giant bell (precursor to the wind chimes) and brought a big hammer.  The kids beat the hell out of it and it drove their parents crazy.  The hosts thought it hilarious.  Good times.

@SGH - Early if fine.  There's a market in Westwego or Marrarro that is right next to the canal that usually sells fresh oysters.  I'll call my buddy up and see if I can't pick up a sack.

    Hoooah!

You know it's good when people start busting out Army slang. It took me forever to erase that word from vocabulary.
@SGH‌ , everything looks good. Excellent family past time. When is she joining the forum?

@SGH‌ , baby steps, which is way more advanced than me. My wife thinks I'm crazy for even taking photos of food. Not to mention she's afraid of the egg. I've had to leave for work a few times before the food was done and she gets so mad. The funny part is, all she had to do was check temp every 10 minutes and remove food when at temp then close vents. I can't even imagine trying to get her to light it.

My wife is getting more into cooking on the BGE. My Son (16) has done a few cooks on his own so far and has done a good job. The wife will soon be doing cooks on her own, just a matter of time.
