I have hard my large since December 2012. I have been threatening to get another one for months. I finally did it!
My little family is complete. (for a little while anyway) I got a great deal on this large as well! Notice the metal chip and chunk storage device to the right. It is a great little storage cabinet.

Nice, John! Are you going to leave it in the nest it build a two egg table?Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
-
@Jeremiah I can't decide. I would like a big table for two, but then I would like to get another table just like the one I have now for it.
For now I will leave it as is.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's -
I understand you issues, I have a large bge that has its own wooden table and I am trying to decide to purchase a second large or sell the large I own and purchase a xl bge.
Either decision involves what do I put the new egg into ?
-
I don't think I could ever sell an egg.Louisville, GA - 2 Large BGE's

I am leaning towards that as well
If I keep my original large then I have the lifetime warranty

I am in process of setting up my medium in a JS Design long table. After setting up and using my XL in a BGE long table I have learened a couple of things that I am doing as I proceed. First, I have put an actual stain on the table instead of Thompson Waterproof. I chose to go with a black satin stain with poly protectant and then put two coats of satin poly on top. I went with black to help hide the usual marks that occur while grilling and also thought it would look better with my gray deck than some of the wood colored stains. I am also laying down fire bricks beneath the table nest for added protection, I had just used a concrete paver under the XL and it has developed a couple of cracks. When this table is out on the deck and the medium up and running I am going to refinish the XL table in the same fashion and add the braces that JS uses on their tables to firm it up somewhat as the BGE has gotten a bit flexible as time has passed. Will let you know how well this worked out in a couple of years. Pics will follow when it is all together later today or tomorrow.

John I sure recommend a Handler on the unit in the nest. Have on both of mine.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

Does the handler make it simply easier to move around when its in the nest ?
Are there any other benefits of the handler ?
-
Got it done and pic as promised. Now mit's time to tear down the XL and refinish it.A poor widows son.
