Griffin said:Bad pic (lighting) but bourbon barrel porter brewed about 5 months ago, bottle aged 3 months. Needs more time to mellow but still damn good.
I'm about to pull a big stout ( 13.2 % ) out of the Balcones barrels I have. Looking forward to getting it kegged today and maybe getting an idea of the finished product before I leave mid week to NC.

Last night I tried a dram of Bowmore 15yr old Laimrig - its a cask strength sherried malt. Much better than there Darkest version imo. Very tasty but liked it better with a tad of water.

Yeah, that's good. Haven't found any specific food pairing to go with it yet, but it's a good brew to have while just hanging out or for a change of pace...definitely a conversation starterBloomington Springs, TN... @BYS1981. I grew up about a mile from the Young's Brewery in London and down the river from Fuller's. I still like both of them, especially Fuller's ESB. I remember walking to school and passing their delivery drays pulled by Shire horses. They're only used for parades now, a bit like the Budweiser horses.

@FATCITY sorry for taking so long to respond to your question. Didn't see it before now. I didn't actually use a barrel. I added charred oak chunks to my secondary fermenter to get that smoke/wood flavor.
