German Oak Table with Slate, Granite and Illumination
EggCattivo
Posts: 11
Hi group!
Just own an egg (large) for half a year now and love it. So a table had to be built.
The small feet on the left side are so that the wood doesn't rot in the grass and that you can adjust it always to level.
Hope you like it. :-))
Also check out my improvised (but surely also illuminated...) fan/accelerator ;-)))
Greetings from Germany!

Nice, very nice. Like the under cabinet light idea and what looks like Euro cabinet height adjusters - The German Engineering community would be proud.Guess you drink snap tops 'cause I don't see an opener. Where's home?Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Where's home?'bout the opener: I drink all kinds of tops: Snap tops, Twist off (yes, I acutally like US beer - sometimes....) and crown caps! Just didn't find a nice opener yet that fits the style ot the table ;-)Home is near Wiesbaden/Frankfurt.

@EggCattivo - was just showing SWMBO your cool table. Have you considered having an air gap between the egg and the granite it sits on?#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

No, there is no real gap. Unfortunately the EGG comes without any feet or stand in Germany and also I couldn't find that table feet (metal) I saw on some photos here in any shop or online store in Germany yet. Would have used it, but on the other hand I have experienced no negative effect of that setting by now. BTW, it's a massive slate tile, not granite. Think it can deal better with the heat. -
You are in what we used to call the US sector, home of the PX. I'm an army brat and being a Canuck, Hemer was home for me...near Iserlohn in the old British sector. Enjoy!Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Ok. Just checking. Around here, these clay pot holders (3 to a set) from Lowes work well in place of the BGE feet. Primo also makes black feet in case those are available in Germany.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I agree with @caliking. you should put something under the egg for airflow. maybe just get 3 fire bricks?

A little of both. Even with thick concrete pavers underneath, folks have found that their wood table charred underneath. With a thick slab of slate, the wood may be protected, but the slab may crack if its too thick and gets too hot. This may be over-speculation, but an air gap is cheap insurance for a sweet setup like yours!#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Very nice. You can sure see that German craftsmanship. I also like the fasteners in the table top. Very clean! I bet you took those photos with a Leica camera.

A happy new EGG-year to all of you!
We have been talking about the absence of a bottle opener earlier. Well, problem solved I would say :-) -
Hi group, check out my new eggciting table feature:The fixed-mounted quick-draw cooking knife holster! ;-)In the background you can also see the black/green bottle holder. Positioned directly under the bottle opener it also serves as a cap collector (sure it is easily removable for emptying). :-)Prost from Germany!

Great looking table! I like the additions as well. When I build my table I will have to add drink holders to the side like you did.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

Great job, love the star-slot screws. They are not common here, I picked up few boxes of assorted sizes from a building supplies surplus place years ago, IMO they are better than robertsons or philips.canuckland
