Ohhh
I have 1 or 2 of those near the top where almost to the daisy wheel. Never knew where they came from.
My medium older. The bands have a lock lever.
Now has a crack in the base.
Still works like a champ.

So are you saying there is no warranty on them? If there is I would think they would replace it. If not go to Home Depot and get a sample bottle of Forrest Green paint to protect the ceramic

Yea, so there is no warranty?_______________________________________________XLBGE

No, I haven't sent the pics in. There was a thing a while back where the spawling was on the inside of the dome and they wouldn't cover it. I was asking for that reason

I had some peeling on the inside of the dome, up near top. It was almost like paint peeling off, it would come off in flakes. I sent photos in and guy said it was normal if i did a lot of low and slow cooking, which i do. Since it did not effect anything, i did not pursue it any more with bge.If it ain't a CAT, it's a dog!!! 2 LBGE's & BGE Backyard Chef Edition Cart

I just noticed something like this, but it is near the base of my Large.
XXL #82 out of the first 100, XLGE X 2, LBGE (gave this one to daughter 1.0) , MBGE (now in the hands of iloveagoodyoke daughter 2.0) and lots of toys -
i have it like that on my small dome, the base really flaked heavey on that one and was replaced under warranty. bge said they would cover it. mine was around a 2005 egg but i dont think it makes a difference to age as my 2002 egg has one spot in the back as well
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Steve,
I had that on the base of my large. Took pictures. Sent them along to Bruce via e-mail. He covered it under warranty. No problem for me.

Thanks Chief,
I was pretty sure it would be covered.

Looks like just the glaze is peeling, is that so or is there actually a piece of the ceramic attached? The glaze should not be lifting like that, it is there to protect the ceramic, n'est pas?Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!
-
Skiddy, No its just the glaze not adhering. The egg is about five years old and I remember a lot of complaints about them at that time. This is one I don't use often. My big issue is that I have two in my shop that were bought at the same time that are unused.

Are you hoarding eggs to drive up the price? Shame on you LS!Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!
-
I wonder if that's where my dealer orders from. They get their eggs from LS
-
i think what happens to an unused egg is it eventually soaks in water, then if it freezes the glaze pops off

They are already worth way more than when I bought them. I'll be selling them through Sam's Club soon. In truth I'm waiting till I get a top made for this before I bring them homeSteve

=P~ Table porn!Can I ask how the holes were cut?Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket! -
they are just rough cut with plasma. I oversized them cause I knew I would be putting stone or concrete on top.

i dont remember any certian plant issue, they hinted that the ceramic wasnt fully mixed when it was in put in the mold. mine goes deep into the ceramics, not just under the glaze

Steve lookin at your pic I'm gonna say it's a manufacturing defect. I have a large egg with crazing but it's not severe like yours. My three other eggs are free of this defect. At the kiln conditions such as improper heating and cooling can cause crazing in the glaze. It's an expansion/contraction and temperature differential problem between two different materials. I wish BGE would catch the obvious. Frustrating to see this. Technically there is no excuse selling eggs with crazing in the glaze, period. Hope you get a replacement! Nice table by the way.
-
Clay,
Oh I know it's a defect. My 16 year old large is right next to it and it doesn't even have the crazing. You haven't seen my table before..I've been posting pics of it for ten years ">
