Carved out a few Granny Smith apples
Added the cut up apple, plus some extra, seasoned with sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon
Added a crust (Store bought pie crust)
On the Egg, indirect, 400 degree dome, a little bit of water in the pan for about 45 minutes
Waiting for ice cream

I still need to try making these pies! Looks great!

Wow...those look exceptional. I'd imagine they're a lil more healthy since its lacking the bottom crust. How'd they come out?Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Alright! I can't read this without a bookmark! Saving this one for the Apple Fest party!
-
Haven't eaten them yet - Cooling for tonights dessert. I put them on early due to upcoming thunderstorms. They smell wonderful/__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

Looks great. My daughter will want to do this now.

How did you carve out the apples? That looks awsome. Mmmm...
Not to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol is a solution...

To carve out the apples, I just sliced off the top, then used a paring knife to cut around the inside, leaving about 1/4 inch of apple. Used a teaspoon to scoop and finish carving out. A melon baller may work better because it is sharper than a spoon, but I couldn't find it in the drawer.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. I need to go to the store as soon as the kids go to bed! The Hell with late night butts and brisket. Let's cook some Apple pies!Mark Annville, PA

They were great with a little vanilla ice cream. The pie filling turned out perfect, the apple itself could have gone 5 more minutes on the Egg. Everyone still ate all of it and no one complained. A big hit.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

When I made mine, I just used enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Maybe an 1/8-1/4 inch.Mark Annville, PA
