For the last five years, our LBGE has been tucked away in my father's (and, more recently, his widow's) back yard, a mile or so from our mid-rise apartment in Houston.

However, yesterday we closed on a house in the Houston Heights, and the LBGE was the first thing I brought (along with a YETI full of champagne and beer).

We are now a couple blocks from my butcher/charcuterer(?), and around the corner from a drove of restaurants and bars.  Also, it turns out our next door neighbor has an Egg, too.  If you are reading this, and live on Oxford, come knock on the door of the blue house that just sold.  We have beer (though not much else).

Nice!  That had to be a great feeling. ..being able to egg outside your own door.  More importantly are you closer to the farm?

I feel for you being without egg for 5 yrs.  That would've been a deal breaker for me.

    Happy egging.

It's hard to imagine life without the egg to cook on. I've have one for about 25 years now. I've had many fine meals cooked on the egg, and just as many that left room for improvement, but I've enjoyed it all the way.
Congrats on the new home, and enjoy the egg.

Congrats. I remember what an exciting time that was for us moving into our first house. We didnt have a lot of disposable income at the time, but one of our first purchases was a gas grill so you are already miles ahead.

That, sir, is a beautiful thing. Good to hear that you're in your new home, with the egg in its proper place.

Now, is the wall of refrigeration ready??

Congrats on the humble abode. 5 years and no egg, would be just downright awful. Glad it is back and life can return to normal.

It wasn't quite "no egg", but I did have to coordinate schedules with someone else (a "joint custody" sort of thing).  The Stoker and now the Flame Boss (watching cooks on my phone) were invaluble.

When we get moved into the new casa, we'll be back to 3x a week instead of 1x a month.

Life is, in fact, pretty good.

We were planning on buying in the spring (when our lease was up), but found the right house in the right spot for us.

That is a strong leap there.  I wasn't really expecting to wake up and have to think "How would I even go about f@&$ing an LBGE?"

You may find the top vent more "accommodating". The lower intake will likely end up in yet another cracked-base-warranty thread.
