Getting acquainted with the medium today. Two cooks in one post.
We were at the grocery store this morning and the wife said "I want some fried pickles". I said "done"! Got the rest of the list knocked out and came home and made some up. Also had a Little Smoky dog. Apparently they're making little smokies in larger hotdog format. Looked good to me, so we got some.
First cook was just that. Fried pickles w/ranch dressing and little smoky hotdog.
1 - This thing came up to temp quickly! The new fire grate must be working well.
2 - Pickles getting happy
3 -
4 - The setup
5 - Pickles getting real happy now!
6 - Pickles with the dogs....
7 - Nothing to write home about, but dang good!
Second cook...
Thick, center cut pork chops (brined before hand) with honey balsamic glaze/sauce. Zucchini stuffed with mozzarella and cream cheese. Green beans and potatoes (with onion and bacon) finished out with a cabbage salad.
1 - Getting a flavor soak...
2 - The glaze/sauce
3 - Cabbage salad
4 - The chops getting ready to hit the medium
5 - Yeah buddy
6 - Nom, Nom!
7 - Up close and personal

Matt, that wok looks nice on the med. Is it on the fire ring, grid or a spider?
That chop.....damn. -
What a great cook. My wife would fight you over the pickles. Everything looks outstanding brother tar. Solid all the way around.

The chop was awesome. My grill marks were pretty good, but the chops were huge and I had sugar in the seasoning and was getting chared a little much.

Wish I had room for zucchini and squash. My mom has squash and has a few already too. The zucchini I made was supposed to be more, but I ran out of time to prep before hand. They still turned out great.------------------------------

Fried PICKLES?! Seriously? Guess I didn't live in NC long enough cuz I never even heard of 'em! I never HAD fried okra, but at least I knew enough not to!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Extra points for the use of apostrophes.
Love the subtitles. "Poke salad was often eaten by the poor in the Deep South". Truth don't know how many fried stalks I ate as a kid. My dad made my grandmother cook the greens outside cause that **** stinks!
sorry for taking us so far off the rails, but those are some memories from my youth.
Thank God for my parents and their determination that I get an education. -
