Reminder - Salado in 150 days

Options

Yes, 150 days and counting until the Salado Eggfest.

And Yes, that's not very far in the future. So you may want to start thinking about your schedule for that weekend (March 14, 2015), what you are going to cook, who is coming you, where you are going to stay, and how you are going to bring home one of the Demo Eggs if you are looking to take advantage of the Demo Egg Discount (not yet known but will be generous, I'm sure).

And no, we're not taking on-line registrations yet. I'll let you know soon enough.

See you in Salado.

Be more than happy to have it at the Fri night and Sat night party at the Inn. But not at the EggFest itself Sat at the Park.

The second half of our sabbatical year will be in Albuquerque, NM.  Google maps says that's a 10.5-hr drive to Salado.

I think I can do it in 7.5.  See you all there. :)

Have been told that we will get the 4 Minis to give away by drawing as we have in the past several years. Now I have ask (no answer yet) to get 3 New Mini Max instead to give away free in drawings. We are a 100% FREE Fest to cooks and tasters (no charges of any kind and no cost for raffle/drawings).

I think I just got the green light to attend. SWMBO says tonight, "you want to take a personal weekend, right?" I knew where this was going, so I say "why do you ask?"

She wants to head to Denver for a girls weekend to visit a friend for a birthday end of Feb. I think we can negotiate. :D

tcampbell, we had a guy arrive by private helicopter last year, but the closest commercial airport is Austin.

Depending on where you're flying from, DFW might be a better choice for flight choices, prices and timing.  If you select Austin, you will need to rent a car and drive north on I-35 (there's also a toll road if you prefer) about 50 miles.  If you select DFW you will need to rent a car and drive about 150 miles south on I-35.  If you fly into Houston you have to purchase a wagon and a team of mules and hire a wagonmaster who knows the trail and is a good shot.

I think DFW might be the better choice.

    See you in Salado.

I'm getting a room this year so I don't have to drag mama to the after party. She was not pleased with my condition last year.

Best place to stay? Cab ride or stumbling distance.

@DMW‌ I'm doing the holiday inn express in salado. 3 min cab ride and it's reasonable.

Inn on the Creek is adjacent to the pre/post game festivities - http://www.inncreek.com/

They usually have a block of rooms for the EggFest, but I don't think that Mickey has turned them loose yet.

Anyone know if there are shuttle services from major airports to Salado hotels? Or just cab it?

DMW... The only  way to get to Salado is drive.  A Taxi would cost you enough to buy a couple of new Eggs.  There's no shuttle.  The village has less than 2,000 population, not enough for a bus station or even a rental car agency that I'm aware of.  It's 50 miles from Austin (60 from the airport in Austin) and 150 from Fort Worth (160 from DFW Airport).  You might catch a ride down and back from an Egghead but you may have to sit in the back of the truck among ice chests and Egg Tools.  I would rent a car either way.  Then you're in control.  Trust me, it's worth it.

Or you could hitch a ride.  But then you're definitely NOT in control.  Trust me, don't trust anyone.
