Looking for a good reliable knife sharpener. Any suggestions?
The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

I have the Tormek T1 , roughly a 600 grit diamond wheel does a great job, Had a KO Worksharp Belt “ grinder , wasn’t a fan of changing belts but was a great sharpener ….I prefer Whetstone sharpening overall , for around $70.00 you can get a Sharpal 162N diamond stone 325/1200 grit, excellent starter . I mainly use Naniwa Pro Stones now though
Whetstones , for me, just do much more from chip repair to surgical sharpness , the T1 IMO is great for maintenance but at a heavier price tag, if your knife needs heavy work you’ll be at it a while
overall the 162n is hands down best bang for the buck and gets you into the world of freehand sharpening, which I find relaxing and rewardingVisalia, Ca @lkapigian -
I have Global knives and I love this machine.

This Miyabi one is very easy, absurdly fast, and leaves knives deadly sharp. It's also inexpensive. Recommended.

Using a whet stone really is relaxing on a nice day sitting out on the deck. I’ve never seen an electric grinder that can do a better job. Knife angles change as you sharpen down near the curve heading to the point, you can only do that by hand with a whetstonelkapigian said:I have the Tormek T1 , roughly a 600 grit diamond wheel does a great job, Had a KO Worksharp Belt “ grinder , wasn’t a fan of changing belts but was a great sharpener ….I prefer Whetstone sharpening overall , for around $70.00 you can get a Sharpal 162N diamond stone 325/1200 grit, excellent starter . My vote is to get a whetstone or two and learn to do it by hand. I do my own and all of those for my family members.
