Happy Father’s Day to all who celebrate.
On this date, in 2006, I received my first Large Big Green Egg for Father’s Day. I didn’t find the forum for 6 years after that and I wasn’t into YouTube or any other outside source of knowledge back then. I had to figure it all out by myself. I made some glorious messes back then and the fam smiled their way through over/undercooked/sometimes passable meals as I was figuring it all out.
Looking back over these 20 years, there have certainly been memorable meals (thousands of them) but the thing I never anticipated was the lifelong friendships I would forge around this weird little ceramic cooker. There are some amazing folks on here and I’m so happy I get to call a small slice of them friends. The rest are friends I haven’t met yet
hope you guys and gals have a great day. I have a big smile on my face looking back at all the craziness on here, all the fun cooks, and most importantly, the friendships I’ve made along the way. What a ride!

Wow. Thanks for posting. I haven’t had my egg as long but my sentiments are the same - as you know. I could never have predicted some of the turns my life would take based on the friendships I have formed here.

Very kind of you to say. I’ve certainly enjoyed following your adventures over the years as well. What a place! This was my sole social media source for 10 years (what we like to call “the sh!t show period”). Stike, Tweev, little Steven, Fidel, Nola in his prime. I couldn’t look awayMaskedMarvel said:Hey hey!
