There is nothing stopping the GOP from ending the shutdown, completely on their own.  They don’t actually need any Democratic votes.

Yes, they would need to kill the filibuster to do this, but ask yourself why they haven’t done that already.  It’s not because Trump loves the filibuster and thinks it’s the world’s greatest invention, discovered by his uncle who was a professor at MIT.
its too fun watching schumer look like a deer in the headlights not knowing where to run
I’m sure the President thinks it’s all a big joke.  People working without pay doesn’t really seem to phase him.

and all the while, schumer could fix this......
    1. Trump has no problem stiffing people.  It appears to be standard practice for him. (Allegedly - said for the benefit of the censors viewing this)

Key examples of non-payment allegations include:
    • Trump Taj Mahal (1990): After the Atlantic City casino opened, records showed that at least 253 subcontractors were not paid in full or on time, including those who installed plumbing, walls, and chandeliers. The Edward J. Friel Company, a small cabinet-making business, went bankrupt after allegedly being stiffed for $83,600.
    • Trump National Doral Miami (2016): A Florida judge ordered one of Trump's companies to pay $300,000 to a paint supply company, The Paint Spot, which had waited more than two years for payment for renovations. The dispute continued after Trump's attorneys attempted to delay the sale of the resort.
    • Trump International Hotel, D.C. (2017):Five contractors who worked on the hotel sued Trump's company, claiming nearly $5 million in unpaid bills. One company, Freestate Electrical, sued for $2 million in unpaid work.
    2. I’m glad somebody is finally taking a stand against all of the anti-democratic damn near autocracy **** going on.

im perfectly fine with schumers ego verse america policy. im also fine with trump not paying the unessential govt workers during the shutdown. give the essentials a raise, fire the daily no shows when the govt turns things back on :D i dont see schumer lasting too much longer anyways, his days are numbered
Written by someone who clearly hasn’t stepped foot on a domestic flight in the past couple of years.

was in altanta not long ago, the folks running the tsa lines would be a great start ;) sir, i said to hold that wild crazy squirmy puppy between your elbows while i gun powder check your hands, then followed up with, you act like this is your first tsa check.   that line seemed like 2 hours long, the boston check line was under 5 minutes
I put loads of little baggies of baking soda, sugar, flour, Ajax, etc throughout my bags and pockets.  It’s worth a laugh and makes things more interesting.

i just had a urine soaked puppy. atlanta sucks more than laguardia even with the murder scene i came upon with a large pool of blood and a bullet ridden car. i can see johns problem though with atlanta being his home flight in and out
ATL is not my home flight in and out.

The point I was trying to make is that if you fly all the time, you appreciate just how problematic it is that we have a set of air traffic controllers who aren't being paid.  It's already disrupting travel.

ATL does an amazing job pushing through 110,000,000 passengers a year given that its design is geared towards ease for the airplanes rather than making it super convenient for passengers. When you live here, it is a pretty convenient airport considering how many places you can fly domestically and internationally non-stop.
Was it ATL that had four parallel teriminals, all connected with perpendicular underground trams?  I didn't mind it at all (not like the humongous hike at both DFW and Denver (granted, I haven't flown in 15 years or so now).

@Botch  They have more terminals now but yes it’s the basic layout. A-E and T are the domestic terminals and F is the new international terminal with a separate entrance, check-in, etc.

Thanks for the update; it was just Terminals A-D back in my day.

I remember the Denver airport trek circa 2000. I came in one end and reboarded at the other end.

I lucked out in Atlanta - some TSA agent took pity on my family - we were lost and standing in a line that looked about 4 miles long.  He opened a side door, motioned to me, and we all slide through.  It was some private screening line and we breezed through on 5 minutes.  Now Hertz at Atlanta was another story.

it looked like (2) 4mile long lines. they send you to the wrong line first ;)

    2. Bomb boats in international waters
    3. Send in the military to your own cities
    4. Pour gas on a raging fire in the Middle
East and then claim you are a hero for putting it out
    5. Whine about not winning the Nobel Peace Prize
Trump and my ex-wife would be fast friends.

Just like tariffs increasing prices and leading to countries choosing other suppliers?  You mean this is more complex than just: “we charge you more money because we mad and want to throw a tantrum” ?
