While dissecting rats in high school Biology, I was impressed that rats' testicles were often bigger than than their craniums.
Looked it up a minute ago. On average, rat testicles (as a percentage of body weight) are orders of magnitude larger than humans, gorillas, or chimpanzees.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
I always wondered if it was normal for one testicle to be bigger than the other twoVisalia, Ca @lkapigian

OK guys - last night I was reading an excerpt from an upcoming book entitled The Tree of Life by Max Telford - a Jodrell Professor of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy at UCL wherein he is exploring mysteries like why do humans have chins and he also threw out the nut comparison. I just figured everyone would pass right on over my post about chins, but a gonad fact would catch attention on a brown water Friday night!

Chins are easy. They’re food catching receptacles to keep the goodness from hitting the floor. Some people have even evolved to have multiple of them, thereby minimizing any and all food waste.

LOL ... Thanks. I'll have to tell ol' Dr Telford that he wasted all his time getting these degrees...GrateEggspectations said:Chins are easy. I did my undergraduate (BA/MA) (1986) and DPhil (1993) degrees in the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford. I then spent a postdoctoral year in Paris (Université de Paris Sud, Orsay) in the laboratory of Prof André Adoutte. This was followed by 6 years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Natural History Museum in London.
In 2000 I was awarded a Wellcome Trust Research Career Development fellowship which I began in the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge.
I moved to UCL in 2003 as Lecturer in Zoology. I was promoted to Reader in 2006, Professor in 2009 and I was made the Jodrell Professor of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy in 2019.
I am the director of the Centre for Life's Origins and Evolution (CLOE) established in 2017.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -
