higher up in this thread I think I also took the Guinness 0 plunge.  It's  .... not bad.... better than many stouts, but not as good as the "full impact" Guinness.

    What did you think John?
I thought it was really pretty good as far as these things go.  Not quite the “revelation” that @CPFC1905 declared it to be, but perhaps his point of reference is more pedestrian than I thought.

its alot better than the majority of na beers. not going to drink 18 twenty ounce pints of this at the bar though.....
Do you often sit down to have 18 pints at a bar, fish?

in my younger days...... used to have guinness on tap at the house back when a keg was 70 bucks, thats along time ago.  draft guinness is alot less proof than todays ipas. 18 guinness is more like 5 ipas. nowadays 1 good ipa and a glass of water at the bar, i dont drink at bars/ restaurants  anymore....

A lot of admin to catch-up on here.
    - Guinness was effectively a medicine over here for a long time, something to do with iron.  But in the 70's you could smoke in hospital, too.  In fact had to, otherwise you'd be prescribed a pipe and tobacco then forcibly ejected.
    - It's very popular amongst the egg-chasers, you know the game a bit like your 'foootbol' but without the spaceman outfits and whispering.
    - I was astonished to see a pint at just 200 calories, but I have quickly recovered my composure - so need to worry about me further.
    - My memories of Guinness are clouded by my formative professional career when I, and colleagues, would attend flop-houses unannounced pre-breakfast to make 'enquiries' to locate nefarious types hidden amongst the casual labouring community. Given their heritage, cash on the day working arrangements and lack of cognisance for liver care, significant volumes were consumed nightly.  Four hours later the miasma generated by half a dozen chaps in a cosy room was quite remarkable.
Other girls may try to take me away
But you know, it's by your side I will stay

  • I like how you can create variety with and old fashioned by using different syrups and bitters combinations.

Sweet deal.  Eagle Rare for the order of magnitude win.  From my perspective, the best 10 yo bourbon on the planet.  Great score.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.
