    Thursday TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LITIGATION

A federal judge yesterday blocked the Trump administration from deporting pro-Palestinian Columbia University protest organizer Mahmoud Khalil, ruling that the government’s effort to deport Khalil by arguing his presence would “have serious adverse foreign policy consequences” chills Khalil’s First Amendment rights. The judge also said that it was unlikely that the government could justify detaining Khalil by alleging Khalil failed to disclose all his past employment and membership in certain organizations when applying for a green card. Erica Orden, Josh Gerstein, and Kyle Cheney report for POLITICO.

Slow day-must have been tied up eating all those TACO's.

    Totally F' the parade.
Being a sailor and his narcissistic small hands and richard focus I'm sure a Naval Pass in Review up the Potomac with the Kennedy Center in the background will be next.  October 13th-US Navy 250th Birthday.  The Navy deserves to sit this out.  Hopefully not an issue as no alignment with CHEETO and his F'ing birthday.
    One can hope.
    Edit upon further review-
Just tell CHEETO that the entire parade will be comprised of stealth submarines. Give CHEETO some super-high tech goggles to see them cruising by, submerged and undetected!

Can any SRBM-carrying subs navigate the Potomac?  Asking for a friend.

    Friday TRUMP ADMINISTRATION LITIGATION

"A federal appeals court yesterday temporarily blocked a lower court’s orderthat directed Trump to hand over control of California’s National Guard to the state. The block, issued two hours after the lower court’s decision, allows Trump to continue the deployment until at least Tuesday next week. The lower court judge found that the administration has now shown that the situation in Los Angeles constituted a “rebellion”  that would justify the federalization of the Guard under the statute. Kyle Cheney and Josh Gerstein report for POLITICO; Devan Cole reports for CNN.

The Trump administration cannot rapidly deport the family of an Egyptian man charged with attacking a gathering in Boulder, a federal judge ruled yesterday, finding that summary deportation “would likely have violated” the family’s due process rights. The judge’s order also transfers the case to the Western District of Texas, the location of a detention center where the government has moved the family. Mark Berman and Maria Sacchetti report for the Washington Post.

The Justice Department yesterday sued New York over a state law that blocks immigration officials from arresting individuals at or near New York courthouses. Reuters reports.

A judge yesterday freed Kseniia Petrova, a Russian scientist facing criminal charges after failing to declare scientific samples she was carrying to the U.S. Customs, on bail from federal custody after four months of detention. Ellen Barry and Maya Shwayder report for the New York Times."

Local reporting says 2k-2.5k folks showed up to the regional "No Kings" event we attended in Lincoln, NE this morning.  I consider that conservative ;) We're near the bottom right of this pic and including the sign Mrs Cooper displayed . . .

^^^ I saw at least two posts on FB (which I don't trust, so hadn't reposted here) offering free lunches, requirements to wear red, white, blue and even gold, plus a payment of $1,000 worth of dumpcoin or whatever it's called, to folks who volunteered to attend and act enthusiastic.  Hopefully that'll be clarified in real news in the next day or two.

Well, I guess one of the first deaths from the "No Kings" movement happened here in SLC. So glad our local crack team of reporters, editors and proofreaders were right on top of the story (I won't mention the mics cutting out all over as they have been for years).
