There are many forum members who likely are not into horse racing but here is Secretariat running like never seen before or since.
What follows is a link to the greatest race horse of all-time completing the Triple Crown in 1973 (25 years since Citation):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V18ui3Rtjz4
BTW- Big Red still owns the track records for all three Triple Crown races.
Thank you for looking.

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

That museum opened a special exhibit section about Secretariat this past April.  You can watch all three triple crown races.  BTW- the move he put on in the Preakness was a strong precursor to the above performance.

Look closely at the pics @lkapigian posted above.  You will see Secretariat gracing the covers of Time, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek.  The charged atmosphere this country was experiencing at that time was very divisive across many issues.
Big Red was a source of commonality that all could get behind.  Truly remarkable and needed then.
Edit- A GOAT debate with no challengers!

I regret to inform you that this thread appears to be sinking.  Why??
I will try again on the 50th Anniversary-BTW it survived on the 45th anniversary...
