lower vent screen replacement
The stand covers some of the bolt holes to remove the assembly, so is it possible to somehow slide
the new screen assembly in the slot without having to pull the egg out of the stand? Or do most of
them wear out and best not to worry? thanks in advance.

You shouldn't need to remove the cover bolts, but may need to turn the egg in the nest enough to slide the vent out.
My XL is in a nest and I'm able slide things out... carefullyXL BGE, 22" Weber Red Head, Fiesta Gasser .... Peoria,AZ -
I agree with Durangler. You should be able to pull out the screen and vent cover without too much restrictions.
What do you mean whe you say wore out? I trying to picture it being wore out. Is the stainless steel version?"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

Slightly rotate the egg in the stand, you should be able to remove and replace without too much trouble after the moving. Be careful."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I just replaced my screen with the perforated style which was an improvement. I have the nest handler so I had to remove 2 bolts securing the handler to the hinge and rotate the egg slightly. It slid right out.Charlotte NC - Large Big Green Egg (2009) w/Nest and Handler

Really like the perforated screen……..looks much mire durable than the screen that comes with the egg. Is that a Smokeware product?

I just bought one of those! Nice upgrade.

I like that screen as well. Just a reminder that your vent settings won't be the same as before. No big deal just don't walk away from it the first couple times you use it.

You didn't have to trim a 1/2" off(amazon review) like the other one posted by @kl8ton?BrandonQuad Cities

THREAD REVIVAL: I need to replace my lower vent screen. I may scavenge it from the old crack base I have. I remember it not being chewed up like this one has gotten.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Used one from original base wasn’t much better, but will have to do for now. The one on Amazon looks good but it seems like airflow would be more restrictive.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Got the screen in. Easiest mod ever. 30 seconds to replace. Test drive tonight.

Looks nice @500 . I never use the screen, but I am on concrete. One of my XLs didn’t even come with one, but that was a long time ago.
-
It looks pretty, I have been without a screen for a long time, I do worry a bit in the fall during the high heat cooks as I have seen sparks come out the door. Might need to look into this more.
Thanks for resurrecting it

looks like that one is 15$, an entire door and screen is $25

here's a screen only for $8...choices, choices....

It doesn’t clog with dust and lump dregs like the screen one did. Like so far.

So a new base doesn't come with the lower vent parts installed? In that case what is the recommended sealant?TIA1 LBGE, 1 SBGE, 1 KBQ and a 26" Blackstone near Blackstone, Virginia

I did the screen upgrade last year. Never looked back didn't need to trim it. Ref the cast iron grate. Home depot plumbing department. Floor drain cover. They come in different sizes.
