In the limited research I have done it looks like the price of beef, pork and poultry is being jacked up by the 4 major meat packing plants that control 55-85% of the meat processing in the USA. Government has caused this to happen by over regulating and basically making it impossible to be a meat processing packaging facility without passing through miles of regulation and using tons of money.Tyson and Pilgrim and Sanderson farms were all sued for conspiring to inflate chicken prices, same thing is happening across the board. Farmers (as usual) are getting nickels, processors are illegally manipulating markets and making record profits because they can and you all are paying the price. It appears now that the USDA has recognized the follies of their way and they (you) are consequently guaranteeing loans to smaller outfits who want to dip their toes into processing. Progress!Swmbo brought me a Chipotle brisket burrito the other night while working late and if there was brisket in that tortilla of beans and rice I couldn't tell you. Also they were out of chips fwiw.South of Columbus, Ohio.

I read an article that US exports of beef (and others) are increased quite a bit to China. China has reduced imports of beef (and coal) from Australia..

I am not familiar enough with the acronyms here but there may be some merit to the "little guy " getting hosed.

But brisket and beef prices in general have been going up but not at the recent rate of gasoline. So there's that-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -

Very pertinent to this thread, and well worth 4 minutes.

EDIT:. And right now PBS Newshour has a great, 10-minute piece, interviewing a whole bunch of folks on why they didn’t go back to work, or outright quit; extremely interesting. It’s not on their website yet but should be tomorrow.

Our private water companies are often criticised for under investment and a tendency to let raw sewage flow into rivers / sea at times of heavy rain. Now with brexit, we have a shortage of treatment chemicals, so our glorious leader has relaxed rules on treatment standards. Multiple beaches with no swim advice due to raw sewage in the water and no pesky EU water quality standards to comply with. Followed by E-Coli in the tap water in some parts of Surrey (ironically, some of the richest areas in the country).
Who needs clean water anyway? Pah!
