    😳

I just think that you are blowing things out of proportion.  They have an HTTPS login page, bookmark it and use that 🤷‍♂️

I have no clue what data they keep in their cloud but I doubt that it is anything worth loosing sleep over.  I could be wrong...

Well, the great thing is, that they probably know what's wrong and how to fix it.

In my frustration yesterday, I committed to a full audit.  And... well, that's really quite a bit of work.

I am confident SmoBot knows what to fix.  And hopefully it'll bring a little maturity to the industry. And all this BS over the weekend wasn't all for nuthin.

And just some parting thought about the negative response to my review.

As you know, I recently closed up shop.  Only had'er off the ground for a few weeks, but I closed up shop.... high tailed it out of there

But I will say that there are quite a few Stoker owners out there.... who, like me, DO NOT WANT TO CONNECT TO A CLOUD.  Do not want to change their ATC.  Staunchly opposed....  I was one!!!

Did you think that they might appreciate an honest review, such as mine?  And perhaps, if I could be the example of what a "stoker migration" looks like, that others might follow?

How much attention did I give SmoBot?  I hope they sell out and have a great Christmas to be honest.  Just hearing about folks complain about the "cloud" with FB on a holiday was enough to perk up my ears.

I know SmoBot will fix it.  They're clearly a responsible company and have gone through some growing pains.

But please stop telling me my concerns are invalid.

    And that no one cares.

And you wouldn't loan me a tool.

Please do not cancel the flame boss review!

Man, I think this guy really has it out for me!  Imagine me, FB real-time review going south.  An entire mob.  I'm just not sure my skin is that thick.... maybe I'll give it a dry run first?

I really was hoping to get out of the gate and online on the cloud portion of the review too.  But when I saw the "Not secure" warning, I just couldn't move forward with it.  I saw the SSL site, but not the redirect.  And that's when I noped out.  I think the average Stoker user would too.

They have an SSL redirect here:

    http://shop.smobot.com/

    not here.

    http://smobot.com

(note HTTP not HTTPS in above links)

I did check to see if they had an SSL POST in their web form auth.  It looks like its 100-percent unencrypted.  They have a couple of elements they pull down in SSL however on the page.

    <script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/libs/html5shiv/3.7.0/html5shiv.js"></script>
    <script src="https://oss.maxcdn.com/libs/respond.js/1.3.0/respond.min.js"></script>
    source: http://mysmobot.smobot.com/login/auth

And that's just me "Right Click > View Source" - no voodoo.

The best thing to do, and what I'd like to do, would be to give them time to resolve the issues so I can try the cloud portion again.  I really do want it all.

I am curious what the latest version number of their code is, if anyone has it handy?

Thanks everyone.  Now unless Tex says something, I'm going to take the night off from the forum.

  • I think in fairness to the company you should post your original email, especially since it now seems they’re going to look into an issue you raised.

    Ok

    Original email:

Eric is a busy guy.  And his initial response was essentially "TL/DR".

Clarifying emails followed, CC recipients added, which lead to the eventual response from Curtis.

My takeaway?  Eric's too busy (which means business is good too I hope).

Personally, my SQL constraints here funnel through a two-level SSL-limiting node together with forced HTTPS protocols, even before visitor traffic can be shunted into a sandbox (given the uptick in APG and APWG).

I find my previous ASVs have actually had pretty poorly considered CoBIT plans and have exhibited fundamental ATT&CK deficiencies.

Which means my softweb approach (multiple NPIs with shared nodes, periodically regenerating 128bit encryption, and multi-sys certificate compliance) have fairly well locked down my cloud.  A cloud which, I beseech you (the global ‘you’), to ( in a ‘hey, hey’ sense) get off of.

I can't believe how dumb I am.  I read 7 pages of this - and I still can't figure out why anybody with a BGE needs a temp controller.

Frankly, it seems to me that the ONLY reason to get one is to share your information with others - so they can see the pretty temp graphs, etc. - because you sure as heck don't need one to control the temperature of a BGE.

@Foghorn - yeah, I think we really only bought ourselves a couple years on the info.  You know they're recording all conversations for future decryption right?

If some of you'd seen what @PigBeanUs has... well.... let's just say you'd think twice about connecting up to that hotspot called "Welcome Friends".
