Hi all, I'm on the market for a new set of steak knives. I currently have a set (partial) of Wustof classic and looking to replace with new.
What are your thoughts?

never spent big money on steak knives but it i did it would be for laguiole en aubrac because i like the looks. more practical would be for messermester meridians, i have the slicer and its pretty much the sharpest knife i have. i would get the serrated tip because it wont dull as quickly. the problems with nicer steak knives is you can not toss them in the sink or put them in the dishwasher which makes them impractical for me, i just have the standard type beater steak knives
what do you not like with the wusthofs, i believe those are dishwasher safe and more durable
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
I'm happy with these. Not as high end as the Laguiole mentioned above but they're good quality, affordable, and have several different handle optionsBoom -

Thanks all. Nothing in particular is wrong with the Wustof set with the exception that one grew legs and walked off.
I think I am more tired of their look (faded and some chips) and the boss said we need new knives. I'm not gonna question her giving me the green light to but new toys. -
Shun's are nice of course, but they are pricey......basically the same cost as 4x or 6x pairing knives. Their sister brand KAI has a really nice set of 6 for a good price though. It's not VG-MAX, but for just steak knives, AUS6M is good enough for me. Their personal folding steak knife is cool too.

Have a couple sets of these, best steak knife I’ve used.Highland, MI
L BGE, Primo, and a KJ Jr -
Steak knives? Really? I learned how to cook steaks on the BGE, tender enough....you use the steak knife to slice butter. The fork is all you need with my steaks.
We have a set that is due to be replaced. They are not slicing the butter like they used to. So definitely following this thread."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Everyday knives at our house is cutco table knives. They’re sharp, versatile knives. Have serrated edges, they may make some smooth blade. Lifetime warranty and free sharpening
-
@JNDATHP Get the full size Military, a bit bigger, thinner, faster, lighter. The blade is a bit more brittle though.

My edc has been the Tatanka lately. It’s a beast but very durableSouth of Columbus, Ohio.

I have had a Spyderco Police Model since the late 80's. Haven't carried it in a long time, but still a quality knife.
I carry a Heretic Manticore E now, and have sold a bunch of them. Great knife for the money. I used to carry a Microtech Troodon in my flight suit, but that's worth too much now for everyday carry.

My current Spyderco doesn’t have a point and is serrated. It is made out of a special rust proof steel. I got it specifically in case I have to cut the seatbelts off of someone.
