vinha d'alhos, did this last weekend for meals thru the week. grew up eating them made with thin pork chops but the chops are too lean nowadays so i now go with butt. it really needs 4 days in the marinade

have a big corned beef point going pastrami style for the weekend for ruebens while more pork marinates for next week

Ordered a lamb shoulder awhile ago.  Going to rub with garam masala and smoke like a butt.

Another vote for lamb; rack is the preference here.  Also pork tenderloins provide many options.  Chuck roasts; grilled shrimp and on and on.  Give the search function here a look.  You will find more options than you can handle.
And as a side bar give this salsa a go:
OT: Habanero and Roasted Garlic Salsa  That will jump-start (and more) any dish B)

  • Either in a slow cooker or Dutch oven on the Egg, I suggest making double batches of “dump pots.” Use odds and ends in the fridge to make various soups and stews. Serve one batch immediately and combine the other batch of raw ingredients in a freezer-safe bag to simply be cooked at a later date. No fuss meal at the ready, and almost no more work than making a single recipe.

I wish that I could find something worth cooking, The local stores are wiped out of anything worth cooking on the smoker. It's just my luck that I just received a 800# shipment of wood pellets.

My grocery store still had frozen turkeys a week ago. Yesterday that had gotten in frozen turkey breasts. I will put a 15 pound turkey on this weekend with Barbecue Express Mojo Rub. I will be sick of it by the time I finish it but better than nothing.

My favorite food delivery businesses are still at it:  Snake River Farms, Creekstone Farms and Porter Road.  Check 'em out while the option still exists.
Not affiliated with any of the above other than by purchase.  FWIW-

I may use this opportunity to do pepper stout beef. Always looks delicious and should be available.

I'm thinking about smoking a double pork chop with Egret's ham glaze on it, then finishing at a higher temp.  I *think* this will be close to Perry's chop.

  • Perry’s in the Houston area is running a Friday $16.00 lunch pork chop special (to go, obviously) w/ mashed potatoes and applesauce.  $5.00 sides available.
