I've decided to move my kamado joe out from under my covered shop to the patio attached to the house to make kitchen access easier. I've already moved the blackstone and it's much nicer being closer to the house. So with the move we're debating building a table since I'll be losing the table beside where I use the kamado now. What are typical table dimensions? I have about 5 feet of space to work with. I planned to offset the kamado to the left side. Is 5 feet of table even worth building a table for? I'm handy with woodworking and enjoy it so that part will be fun. Just wondering if I'm better off with side shelf space or table space. Thoughts?

I'm not sure if you meant you only have 5 feet to work with, but this is my drop down side work station. I recall exactly but I think those hinges have a 300+ pound limit.

Yes I have 5 feet to work with before I get to my panel box. A drop down table extension like that would work though. Good thought.

Obviously my memory has failed - the capacity is not 300+ but 130 instead. Here's the link to buy them:

Anybody storing anything like a joetisserie or DoJoe in drawers or cabinets under the table? The area will have a sloped cover above it and I plan on getting a custom cover made to cover the whole table. Just wondering if it will stay dry. I’m in a high heat high humidity coastal region.

I built several tables for friends, but most stick with a nest that takes up less space and is mobile.

Everyone will have their own preference. I like my table (58" long) and find it holds everything I need it to hold. Found a cover on Amazon that fits it perfectly and everything stays dry.

Just some steel channel I re-purposed from an old shelf and spaced accordingly to hold the grates when not in use.

I used the plans from https://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1157985/cedar-table to build my table.

Not sure of the area that you have but I like my Egg in its own cart and the table separate. Gives me and the Warden some options. She can use the table for her cooking activities even if doesn't include the Egg's...
