Reverse sear and caveman steak finish- nice to play with fire!

Hadn't finished a caveman steak in quite a while. Gave a 2.8 lb Costco prime tomahawk a go. Also tried the caveman asparagus debuted by @smokingal a few weeks ago. "Every picture tells a story."
My asparagus technique needs work- thanks for lookin'.

That steak is the envy of Fred Flintstone. Nice work! I take it the char on the asparagus wasn't to your liking?
It's "Smokin Gal", not "Smoking Al".

I love char-but I neglected to get fairly uniform thickness spears. And my small veggie long tong technique needs work. But given the chance to combine cooks on one fire, I will go again.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
That looks great! Color is perfect. Did you have any trouble with lump sticking to the meat? I've only tried caveman a couple of times. Didn't care for holding the meat over the fire with one set of tongs while tugging a dozen pieces of lump off of the meat with another pair.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

@Carolina Q In all my caveman cooks I may have had a few times when a piece or two stuck when I flipped it but fortunately only once (that I recall-political response for sure) had to knock any off after the flip and while retrieving. I aim to land the flip on a different set of hot coals-don't know if that makes a difference or not.
Time to go again if you like crust/char. Nothing like the bite thru to pure meat goodness.

Oh, I love crust/char. Maybe time for another shot... been a while. Possibly wasn't hot enough.

Your grilling game has always been the barometer for my cooks, and this cook is no different. Beautiful results Frank, as always.
I would be remiss, if I did not mention the quality of that photo, spectacular!
