Joetisserie
First time using the Joetisserie today on my XL BGE and roasted a chicken. Results were better than expected.

Yep. It makes for such even and consistent cooking, and the food always seems to be moist.

Oh yeah. That thing is a lot of fun! It's my favorite accessory...

I love mine. Ribs are the best from it, chicken is great too. I need to do a rib roast soon it.
Still looking for a basket to do chicken wings on ti with though...anyone have any ideas where to find a good one?

I like mine. I've only done chicken but I want to do a pork roast then a lamb roast then …

Let's just say a guy had a 75th birthday coming up and just say a spouse was looking for an idea for a gift would this be the site, size for a large BGE and typical price for a Joetisserie?

@RRP If it was my friend I would recommend Ceramic Grill Store
Tom deserves the support!

185 is the same that Costco had them for. I personally haven't seen the classic any cheaper. The classic is what fits a large bge.
-
Great idea! I had no idea that Tom sells them now.

We did another rib roast this weekend...maybe the best yet!

Damn, I know there have been forum issues lately...but I thought the photos were normalized - nope!

That looks amazing. And this picture posting thing is
strange. I’ve had them flipped 90,180 and 270 degrees for no apparent reason.

I have the joetisseries and the dojoes at my store if you want to take a drive to STL.
-
Have you done any test runs with the dojoe yet? We love pizza on the Kamado Joe. Very curious to know if it’s really any better/easier.
-
When rotoing the chicken, did you see any deflection on the spit rod? When I load the chicken in the center of the spit I see a very slicght deflection which when rotating sends a vibration to the motor.

No, I don't have a KJ at home and they won't fit a BGE......at least with the new hinge. I've been meaning to run one over to a buddy's house that has the old hinge to try it out.
-
Ribs! I still have not tried putting a rib on a spit. ? I've seen pictures posted here. Looks odd, sounds like I have to try it.
I bought a basket and it is great for wings. Only problem is that the wings are so good, it doesn't hold enough! I got suggestions and bought the one mentioned in this thread.
@DFW that looks awesome! Wow. 😮
And I didn't even know the DoJoe was a thing! Those KamodoJoe people keep coming out with cool accessories. I know that is just a copy of the Pizza Porta. In searching for that I found that somebody makes one for Akorn for only $60. May be worth trying that on for size first and just use the stone you already have.

It doesn't seem to be a problem. The spit is pretty rigid.
I will hear the motor labor just a tiny bit at points of the spin, but it doesn't seem like a concern. It's just a small motor building up torque for the turn. On heavier cooks it can be kind of a stuttered turn as opposed to the smooth effortless turn that a big motor with a low gear would give you. This is a little motor with a lower gear... the little engine that could. 😉 It does the job!

It's sacrilege here, but we love our KJCII.
We've been talking about selling it though, because we only use it for Joetisserie cooks...and just buying the bigger one for our XL BGE (the bigger firebox would actually help here).
Love the cooking experience though...a lot of fun!

Alright... I'm going to be that guy.
Time and temp? That looks too good not to repeat.

I think that one was 115, but will check the logs (thanks Smobot and Meater)

never used it but heard praises about it... chicken wings, potato wedges, builtin paddles tumble food like laundry dryer for even cooking. not sure if it fits Large Jotisserie though.

I have to wonder if the gears in that tiny housing are not probably plastic which will struggle until the "worm" gear on the motor will fail and and just eat right on thru. I had that very problem with a roto on a Weber and a Duccane gasser!
-
a counter weight (which Jotisserie lacks) would help balance the load, minimise deflection and reduce stress on the motor...

Crazy idea, I suppose, but for that selling price they should have used a stronger rod, or better motor!
-
I have not heard of any failures and I don't notice my rod deflecting. I have put two chickens on it, a large beef loin, a bacon wrapped pork loin, and the basket packed full of wings. I agree it is not a giant motor, but I also like that it is small, very quiet, and packs away nicely.
I think it is still worth the purchase. You may question the horsepower of the little motor but it gets the job done. Go for it!

Can you fit a small suckling pig on it?
