At first glance I thought it was an antique anal discombobulator. However after closer inspection, it looks like a slender, slotted spatula.

It’s iust a thin slotted spatula. Good for various uses like pulling cookies off a cookie sheet (especially gooey ones), mixing pancake batter, flipping smaller pieces of fish, scallops, shrimp etc.

@RRP: I was waiting to see who would ask about that. It was a list of recipes from a Nigella Lawson cookbook that looked good to me. I might have known it would be you! I scan recipes from library books.
