WINE CORK FIRE STARTERS

Have never seen this as a suggestion and came across it while surfing the web. Fill a mason jar with wine corks (natural corks, not the synthetic ones) and rubbing alcohol. For best results they say soak them for a week. I use the paper towel veggie oil method but this one would seem to last longer and get a better base.

Water/methyl alcohol do not soak into wine corks (that's why they're wine corks); isopropyl alcohol does?

Had a fire chief tell me a while back, that if you want to get rid of a car, light a large bag of potato chips, and throw it in the back seat. The fire will consume everything.

Just gave our daughter probably 300 but it won’t take long to build up a supply. Great idea because I use the paper towel method but this should be a lot easier.

Heard the same thing from an arson investigator.YukonRon said:

He also said all these people that torch their houses try to get all clever and it's easy to bust them. He said there's no law against being a freakin moron or slob.....you can keep a box of fireworks in your potato chip covered living room floor while you smoke. People burn their houses down accidentally for dumber things. -

I'm giving this a try (with a few, not one). With a KAB, I've switched to the paper towel/oil method but unfortunately it has failed me a couple times too.The Cen-Tex Smoker said:

I did the wine cork method last week to use in a Swedish fire log I had cut. They stay lit and get the job done. Actually had to cut mine in half again to get into the center of the log.
