Don’t Buy Romaine Lettuce

  • Let’s break this down a bit. If this recall includes everything, it must be inherit to the plant...and not the region, handling, processing / packaging etc.. I have not read up on this....and likly want due to laziness around the Holliday. What is really the root cause of this issue?

This is really quite sad as romaine / Caesar  is one of my favorites.  It's a shame I tell ya.
According to the reports, the CDC hasn't been able to track down the root cause yet.  I think they're just being overly cautious right now, because they've had 32 people hospitalized due to this... across 11 states.

From what I have heard on the news,  the source of the contamination is in the water supply used for irrigation. Animal waste contaminating the water supply is the most likely cause.

My wife is pregnant and became really ill yesterday at work. So much that I had to pick her up from work and drive her home. The OB said it wasn’t likely a pregnancy thing and more likely some sorta bug — they’ve been getting a ton of calls the past couple of days.  We are wondering if it’s the lettuce as well.  Best to not chance it from here on out and stick with meat and potatoes the next few days.
Oh man Craig that is pretty scary.  Hope she's feeling better today?
Yessir thx, better today but still a bit of a yuck feeling.

If this is the case, all of the US Romaine is coming from a single region?

@Dyal_SC I hope Elle is alright, I was in bed all last week with something, 102 fever, chills etc. Something is going around as I never get sick.
