have you turned the base over on the large and taken a really good look at it for cracks, most dont and many have hairline cracks

  • I haven’t submitted a claim either.  But I do have some internal components with cracks.  I just use them anyway.

  • My Large is two yers old next month and I've had two claims. One for a cracked fire ring and the other was to get the newer style bands as the originals ones wouldn't stay aligned. Neither were earth shattering issues but both were quickly addressed by dealers.

Also the benefit of the lifetime warranty for BGE. I'm sure a lot of people keep going for years with hairline cracks that have no bearing on the function of the Egg because they know they can claim later if the defects get worse.

Had my large since 2011 and no warranty dealing for me, just my own boneheaded mistake that required a new lid at full price.

I recently gave the bottom of my base a thorough look and seems good.  Perhaps living in So Cal is easier on the egg for outside weather abuse.
  • Cornholio, I've done that with the lid too. It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be, but a bonehead mistake nonetheless. Egg was out of commission less than one week.

Damien- thought I was with you but fired the grill up tonight and noticed the base had dripped some fat out the bottom. Oh no- a cracked base.

Will have to get a new one on order but the current one is okay for now.

There are two types of egg owners, those whom have filed warranty claims and those who will.
    Jacksonville FL
  • Got mine for Christmas last year and I have warrantied the.... fire ring, bands, base, and firebox twice.   I am no longer going to go over 600 we will see how that goes!
Just put rons Rutland on my base before it cracked so i currently run a stock gasket on bottom no gasket on top.

I always encourage folks to go ahead and file the claim. That way you avoid any possibility of a delay we read about on this forum. I had a firebox for 1.5 years before changing it out. Like you said, many of the claim items are still usable long after they have a failure.

It’s good advice Pete.  I’m just lazy when it comes to this sort of thing.
