I was able to get NBC12 local news to do a story on Operation BBQ Relief. Watch this and you'll learn that my avatar pic is not a real picture of me. And I wasn't really crying on the news. That was just really good acting. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. Packing to deploy to Wilmington NC for the next few days. I will bump my last week OBR thread this evening with fresh pics from Wilmington. I even made sure the BGE logo was displayed briefly!

Oh man! You could have just sprayed it down with Easy-Off oven cleaner, then laid plastic wrap over the area you sprayed to keep it from evaporating. Let it sit overnight and you'd be down to the bare metal by morning with nothing more than a quick wipe of a paper towel.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -

An eye-opening day.
Went to the Group's awards ceremony this afternoon as a couple of my coworkers were being recognized, but then I got called up to the stage and was presented with my 30-year Service pin. I didn't know the guv'mint combined your Active Duty time with your Civil Service time.
Then, a coworker afterward asked me when I planned to retire. I said in about 18 months, when I have 20 years with the Civil Service, plus turn 60 so my AF retirement starts (I did 12 years Active Duty and 14 years in the Reserves). Without getting too deep into the details (which I obviously hadn't understood), he told me I could "buy back" my AF time and add it to my CS time; I knew this but was told, several times, that I would give up my AF retirement if I did. According to my coworker, that's not True!! So, I'm setting up an appointment with the Retirement counselor tomorrow, and get the full scoop.
In a nutshell, what this means is this: if my coworker is correct, I'm already eligible to retire from CS, as a 30-year employee, if I just pay in the retirement "buy back" (and I have the cash), without giving up my Active Duty retirement!! This is huge, and changes everything if its true.
It was an eye-opening day....

Congrats @Botch. Hopefully you’ll get the news you’re looking for. It’s always good to know your situation well. My mom knew she could retire but didn’t know all of the details. After meeting with the retirement officials, it was determined that she would get a pay raise to retire! She filed the paperwork on the spot.

I just filed the papers to buy my military time back. I can technically retire at age 46 if I want, but I'll go till 57. I am only 33 now.

Went on a badass drive today. Arkansas State Highways 27 and 14 between Marshall and Yellville. It would've been better in a Porsche 911, but it was still pretty nice in my rental Nissan Altima.
Keep in mind this is coming from a Florida guy that is used to flat and straight (meaning the roads I drive on).
