    I remember reading where they use to recommend using the original charcoal grate with the KAB on the XL.  I believe it was even on the CGS site, but I can’t find it now.  I always leave my original grate in with the KAB.   Here’s an old post where KAB confirms using the fire grate with KAB on the XL.

    From what I read it had to do with heat transfer to the bottom of the BGE.

    I had a large, medium, mini, and xl base crack. I don’t think it’s really the size I’ve seen lots of posts with cracked larges also. Kinda sucks to swap out the xl base not easy for 1 person to do.

    It is obvious the Lump Demons caused the crack, or is it the meat God's ?
