Talk about putting lipstick on a pig, why would anyone vacuum out a grill/smoker? Rakes work just fine, the Ltype rakes will even reach between the firebox and the base if you turn them sideways. Good luck with your endeavour....Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

I deal with small ash holes all the time...RRP said:Well - let's see...
Here is one I made for my small egg since the ash hole is so small. The end is a small piece of brass.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -
I have nothing of value to add to this thread. Heck, I didn't even read any of this thread. Aside from the post from @caliking that is directly above mine. And I think he's right, although I didn't expand the posts he quoted. I just assumed there were posts that were shadow banned.

I have a box box of rubber gloves I use for setting up the egg. Shake the KAB, remove it and the firegrate and scoop out any ash. Replace everything and add coal repeat -

Rakes "work just fine" up to a point, but if your goal is to remove all the fine dust that's accumulated from multiple cooks, no amount of raking is going to do that.South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -
