Different kind of Memorial Day meal- chicken tikka and bharta
Wolfpack

Working on exposing my children to a greater variety of cuisines and tonight was Indian. Although chicken tikka masala isn’t really from India it hits close enough to the mark.
Even better my middle child has begun to show some interest in helping in the kitchen. I really enjoyed having her help me today.
Marinated the breast pieces in the yougurt/spice mix for roughly 6 hrs.

I skewered the chicken and grilled low on the woo right over the flames to get a great char.

Into the sauce mixture the chicken went-

For a side we made eggplant bhurtha. I did eggplant two ways- roasted over open flame and salted, dried and sautéed to remove moisture.

Not a great plated shot but it was time to eat.

It turned out pretty well- the wife and kids all had seconds which was a good sign. I will say I’ve had much better but my goal was acomplished. They liked it and will try it again.
Told the kids they were getting cheated on the meal and would love naan. Guess I will have to invite Caliking over or take them out for that one.
My son loved the idea of eating with his hands- he hates to use his fork.

Dude... I love this thread.
The grub looks great ( better than great) and I love that everyone was keen on tucking into something different. I dig that attitude
I’ve rarely been able to take a nice pic of Indian food either. All shades of brown. But very tasty!

Looks delicious! So did you grill the skewers without a grid on the woo? I'm guessing the skewers rested on the inner circle without any issues

Nice. We love to cook Indian. It's really fun when your kids start to like different types of ethnic food. Great looking cook.

It would have worked that way but I did use a small grate. The charcoal was too high so I needed the grate to provide some protection.zahulio said:Looks delicious!
