Was over a friend’s house last night and he was showing me how to do this:

1/3 cup of kernels, 2 TBS of oil. 187F for 12 minutes or until all kernels popped. No burning! Give it a shot if you LOVE popcorn!

Amazing, never would have thought of it.

It's one of those things that's really hard to believe can work until you try it. I guess the vacuum seal lets the popcorn pop at relatively low temperatures. It's like that PV = nRT type thing.gdenby said:Amazing, never would have thought of it."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

SV is yesterday. I Insta-Pot all my popcorn now. 1/3 cup chicken stock is all you need. Put on high pressure for 7 minutes. It doesn't pop till you release the pressure. Trick is quick pressure release, no natural release.

1/2 lb kernels later and I can’t get this to work. What’s the trick? I just keep making a weird paste.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Amazing ... have to try this ... if only to see if making popcorn in a sous vide also produces a bag completely devoid of moisture when removing from the device.

Funny you should mention this. When I was in high school, we used to make popcorn in a pressure cooker.Ozzie_Isaac said:SV is yesterday.
