OT - Any Broadway Musical Fans

@DMW’s thread on concerts got me to wondering how many Broadway fans there are here?

My amazing wife and I randomly wandered into a showing of Evita in Chicago back in 1981, and that has sparked a passion in us both. Shows we have seen include:

Evita x2 (Chicago and Hartford)
Cats x2 (Albany and NYC)
Phantom (Toronto)
Lion King x2 (London and Hartford)
Mamma Mia (London)
Les Mis x2 (NYC)
Rent (NYC)
Chicago (NYC)
Stomp (Hartford)
Ghost (Hartford)
Kinky Boots (Hartford)
Wicked (NYC)
The King And I (NYC)

Next month we are headed to see Les Mis for the 3rd time in Albany. Have been trying to score Hamilton tickets since the show released but haven’t had any luck.

What say say you heathens, what shows have you seen?

Just saw Hamilton in Chicago in November.  My wife and I both agree it was the best thing we have ever seen on a stage.

    Previous shows include:

Phantom (NYC X 2 and San Antonio)
Les Mis (San Antonio - my kids saw it in NYC while my wife and I were at a wedding))
Lion King (NYC and San Antonio)
    Spamalot (NYC and San Antonio)
    Wicked (San Antonio)
    Miss Saigon (NYC)
    Stomp (NYC and San Antonio)
Blue Man Group (Boston and San Antonio)
    Book of Mormon (San Antonio)
    Cats (Memphis and San Antonio)
Little Shop of Horrors (NYC and San Antonio)

    Probably a few others.

XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

I would probably term myself a fan, but my list isn't as extensive as yours.

I've seen traveling productions of Les Mis, Phantom, Lion King, Wicked,  Tommy, Chicago, Sweeny Todd, and Rent x2.

On Broadway, I've seen Matilda and some Beatles tribute show with both the wife and daughter; and West Side Story and Spamalot with the wife.  Even with the recency bias, this was our favorite - we got our daughter Hamilton tickets for Xmas:

From my limited personal interaction with you, you’re about as bent as they come.  =)

Having any sort of class and being on this forum, I thought, was mutually exclusive.

Big fans here. Kids are all involved in musical theater. The Broadway channel is on my XM radio presets in my pickup truck. We have season tickets to the Fox Theatre. Pretty sure I’m straight, but some of my friends question that.

The closest that I have been to is watching the niece and nephew in local musical theater. The niece is a superb soprano.

On of my favorite episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia:

They actually made the episode into a musical:

I prefer a different type of Entertainment on a stage.

  • I am not a fan of most theatre and musicals and struggled to stay awake during other previous attempts, but I think Jersey Boys is the perfect show for those with spouses who appreciate that type of thing. Musicals about music (also Rock of Ages) are more than tolerable. We are seeing Jersey Boys for the third time this spring and I don't need to be dragged to it.

I've seen Jersey Boys (and most of the musicals listed here) 3 times. I took my parents when I lived in Chicago and they came to visit. They grew up with Frankie Valle and that whole time period.

After the show, my Dad pulled me aside, tears in his eyes and told me that he was dreading this...that he had no interest in a "musical" but didn't want to say anything.

He told me it was the most amazing thing he had every seen!

They went to several more JB shows on their own and played the CD all the time at home.

My Mom has passed but my Dad still plays the CD at home.

    And he's not gay.

  • If anyone watches the Jersey Boys movie and enjoys it I don't know how you wouldn't also enjoy it live in person.
