@Eoin Most definitely. The hardest part was tracking down the right tools. I didn't necessarily want to go spend $50+ on a lockplate tool and steering wheel puller for how little they get used. I found out my local autoparts store does a free tool rental on certain tools. I called the autoparts store down the street and asked if they had a steering wheel kit available to rent. They did. So I go into the autoparts store only to be told that it was rented out and they didn't have any other available. What? I just called five minutes prior and told me they did. They said the next town over had a set available in stock to rent. So 20 minutes later I'm at the other store picking up the steering wheel kit. When at home I open up the tool case and I find out it's missing the lockplate tool. So I get the steering wheel pulled off and make another 40 minute roundtrip to return the kit. I wanted to bring the kit back as soon as possible to make sure I wasn't charged for any of the previously missing pieces. They apologized and had a 2nd kit for me to borrow without any missing tools. My next step was to use the lockplate tool out of the kit. After a few minutes of using the lockplate I knew it was junk. It kept pushing itself off when trying to tighten it. So that whole 40 minute round trip was wasted to pick up the 2nd steering wheel kit as lockplate was useless. So it was another 40 minute roundtrip the next day to return the pointless lockplate. Another day wasted. I found out another autoparts store in town had a lockplate tool I could rent. This one worked perfect. I ended up needing to take the steering wheel off again as I forgot to mount the spring for the horn. This meant that I had to go rent that steering wheel kit once again. I called the local autoparts store down the street to see if the kit was back available to rent as it "disappeared" 5 minutes later the first go around. They said it was back in stock. Perfect! So I stop at the store and ask to borrow the steering wheel kit. This time they can't locate the kit anywhere in the store. What???? This time the employee went and pulled a new steering wheel puller from the display rack and said I could rent that one. I thought that was nice of her to do that as it was different than the one in the kit. The whole tool rental stuff was crazy! Very generous of the autoparts store to rent free tools but man do they make you work for it!

I somehow made 2-3 hour job turn into 5 days. Most of it chasing down tools. I took one night off and only had an hour or two after work each night. Even with all that time wasted it still feels good in the end.

Do you have an inspection to get through? Split boot (even without play) is a test fail here.

No inspection, just regular maintenance.

We have an annual inspection, first one at 3 years old. It's pretty strict these days.

Hope so. Golf benefits greatly from his greatness. Leave the BS aside, he’s the best that ever played. Saw a stat today about puts @3’ from 2003-2006. He made 2000 and missed 4. every states different, massachusetts just changed the rules. the inspection is video live streamed back to a registry department starting next month, cameras all around the vehicle and on the inspection guy. its not going to be good, not a chance of my truck passing. the guy doing the work even gets his pic tacken on all sides of the vehicle

trucks in the shop again, since friday ive had to climb under it to put it in park to start it then slowly bring it to drive before the tranny linkage falls off

It used to be 'flexible' here too.  Those days are long gone.  When I lived in Germany and had my car still registered in the UK, I got an MoT inspection by post for the price of a drink.

We really only have roadworthiness inspections during sale of vehicle, as the inspection is required to register the vehicle. Emissions testing is every 3 years or so. Having German standards here would make driving much better.

Ugh, I'm sorry, that does suck @fishlessman.  No way to make sense of it.
