Congrats on the new paint!  There's a guy local that has one for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $450.  I'd love to have something better to make pizzas on.

I'll let you know how I like it. I have high hopes based on what I've seen but you never know until you fire it up. I think at 900+ degrees top and bottom,  it will make a great sear rig for SV cooking as well.

Starting to do my research.  I have been looking at a dedicated portable wood fire pizza also.  Did you happen to look at the Uuni 3?  What were the decision factors in choosing Roccbox?
I got rid of my uuni 2s, predecessor to uuni 3. I rigged my own gas burner, much better than burning pellets, but still didn't like it.

Is the curry egg the one being sold?

This is my new naan cooker too. I can't wait. I hope to have it with me this weekend for AWSS IV. It's a slim chance that it will be here before I come down though.
It should work well re: design. Launching the naans may be a bit tricky -  may have to try them on parchment or something like that. At least that's what my experience was with a  Blackstone pizza oven.

Me too, at one time. For some reason they're all stuck together now. Must have spilled glue on the binder at one time.

I have a 14" super peel that I have used once. I bet I can cut that down to 10" (the RB door is 12") and use that to launch the naan. That thing will literally pick up a dime off my kitchen table. It works great, I just didn't use with in my bge the way I thought I would. A repurpose may be in order.

  • @ The Cen-Tex Smoker--if you are able to cut super peel down to 10 or 11 inches, please let me know how to do it. I am also trying to figure out how to transfer pizza into Roccbox. Thanks

I will be with my team of expert shadetree engineers @caliking @20stone @pigfisher this weekend. If we cannot make it work, it won't work (or it will be a spectacular failure worth watching anyway). We are butchering another one of our pigs this weekend so I'm sure we will be posting fun stuff as we go. Stay tuned.

I thought their magic pizza peel was supposed to be the shizzle? Is it not working well for you?

I was talking about the one that comes with the Roccbox. They talk about how great it is and Kenji said it was his favorite ever. Do you not like it?

  • No, I did not like it--have used it once only though. Will give it another try this soon. I was talking about this one-EXO Non-Stick Super Peel Pro Composite.
