You Can't Tell the Players Without a Program

I am a relative newbie (two years) to the forum and to the Egg. I have mastered the Egg pretty well, but the forum is still a bit of a mystery to me. Is there a program that can tell newbies about the relationship amongst the old-timers here? For instance, who are the trolls, who really hates whom, who is just being sarcastic for fun but no one can tell, and if SGH really eats anus? Which people are Republicans and which people hate the country (just kidding).

Inquiring minds need to know. Even if it isn't Friday night yet.

I’ve only been on here for a year or two, but let me try to help.

@Yno - probably the best way to get to know the folks here is to dive into Ozzi's "OT-What are you doing right now?" thread. Start on page one and read the posts until you get to today's post. You'll need time but it is well worth the effort.

Most know about egging but very few know anything about bourbon, wine or beer.

Nobody hates anybody, we are mostly Americans, and @jeffwit was being sarcastic. He is the best by far at it, if you read his post, you will agree. JK @jeffwit.

Just remember there are two things every man can do better than any other.  Grill a steak, and coach a college football team.  ;)

I disagree to some extent.  That thread stays pretty clean, because no one wants to be the guy that sinks that thread.  Just know that as much as nola hates America, he is one guy that opens up his house and neighborhood to EVERYONE mid October.  With a tear in my eye, I have to admit, he's one solid m'fer.

Probably the best way to get to know people on the forum is to meet them in person at an Eggfest, Brisket Camp, Butt Blast, etc.
I would love to, but being out here on the left coast, it seems that most of the activity is back east. My local store, Eggs by the Bay, holds a fabulous Eggfest every year. Maybe next year all the forum members should identify themselves so we can meet. Maybe a tinfoil hat? I know there are a few that go.

I was raised in the deep south, and until I got out of college, I lived there except for a few years, with third grade on in South Carolina and Virginia (Wahoo Wah!) Very fond memories, except the humidity and the mosquitoes.

But I still don't know if SGH eats anus.

I’m one of the aholes too, by the way, in case that wasn’t clear.

Great topic.  I think it's important to remember that occasionally someone will post something a$$inine but that doesn't always make them an a$$hole.  Just like all of us occasionally do something stupid, but that doesn't mean we are stupid people.

Although I'm an a-hole.  And I can't help you with any of your anus questions.

This is mostly a forum to BS with interweb friends who you occassionally see in real life.  Sometimes talk about BGE even happens :)

When I troll I don't always mean to, except when I do.

Gotta say, the asz hat to cool folk ratio, is totally one sided here, in absolute favor of the cool folk.
    I respect them all.
They have provided so much insight for me, and much of what I have learned has made me a better cook, (which was the original goal) and a better person.
The self proclaimed asz holes, which posted on this thread, are among the finest, cool folks you will find in this forum.

@YukonRon - Up and at 'em quite early today (Black Friday participant?) or was the timing of the above a carry-over from Thurs?  ;)

I do not sleep a lot, maybe 3-4 hours a day. I have been like that most of my life. Occasionally, with sleep meds, I will get a solid 4-5 hours in. I just find it impossible to shut down. Today is leaf day, all day. My house is the neighborhood leaf magnet.

The original post was really kind of tongue in cheek. Every forum I have ever been on has some drama occasionally, but I know that MOST of the people on here get along, and like to poke fun a bit. 'Twas just a bit of humor on my part.

I probably have not missed more than a couple of days in the last two years that I have not logged in and spent time reading posts here. There is so much knowledge to be gleaned about everything Egg, and I have taken advantage of that. I don't ask many questions, because I am fairly adept at searching, and most of the rookie questions I have had are answered here in past posts. And most new questions are answered well before I could contribute my somewhat meager experience. But this is truly my favorite forum on all the Internet.

Anyway, thanks to all who make this a great place to learn, have fun, and waste time that could be spent doing something productive, like painting my house (which will be white with Big Green Egg trim when I get done.)

May you all have a wonderful holiday season, whatever holiday you observe!
