Practice Turkey

Decided to throw a practice turkey on yesterday. I went with the Mad Max way.
Needless to say this was an amazing turkey - 11lbs done in 2hrs 45min.
I also injected with a 50/50 hot sauce and butter mixture (will inject twice as much next time)
And I didn't have any good rubs on hand so I ended up using Emerl's Chicken Rub and turned out pretty good.
I did oreder some Meat Church Holy Grail that I'll be using on Turkey Day though.

That last shot is fantastic. We're going to give the Mad Max method a go this year for Christmas dinner.-----------------------------------------------------------------------

@CraftBeernBBQ looks great! How'd you like that injection? I want to do a butter injection, but wife is not a fan of hot sauce or Creole seasoning. I may have to do 2 turkeys! Someone on here posted a butter & honey injection that sounded pretty good...may have to give that a go.

Looks like you had a really good practice! You’re ready for game time for sure. Nice!

Love the hot sauce injection - adds the best flavor in my opinion. -
I also just completed a test run turkey, my first ever. Here's a pic of it right off the LBGE:

You guys are overachievers! But turkey is delicious, so why not make an excuse to cook an extra :-)

Well that pool in the background makes me a bit jealous

My turkey turned out awesome. Super moist and tasty. My only complaint was that the skin was not as crispy as I would have liked. Next one will spend more time in the refrigerator absorbing the dry brine before going on the egg.Plymouth, MN
