I think I am finally on the path to recovery from this weekend.
Fabulous as always to hang with the usual suspects and meet some new ones. So many good bites were cranked out in a 48hr period that it was hard to keep track. Special thanks to @Thatgrimguy for letting us raid his supply train for all kinds of things, and for single-handedly raising my blood bacon level to 1000. To @eggcelsior for keeping me fed all of Friday, from steak 'n eggs in the morning, to late night empanadas. To JIC for some killer SV wings. And to @DMW for keeping us from burning the whole shitshow to the ground.
Most of all, bigly thanks to our hosts @nolaegghead and the lovely @FleurdeLirious for putting in the blood, sweat, and tears to make this happen. How you put up with a bunch of lunkheads invading your house and kitchen for days on end is beyond me. But we sincerely appreciate that you do.
As I was telling @piney, BBQ people are the best people

My wife trolled me!! Ended up we went to some crazy concert with a ton of 21 year olds running around like maniacs. She said I'd been having too much fun without her (Gulfport Music Fest, then Talladega, then Brisket Camp) so she didn't want me to get to drunk at Brisket Camp to take her out Saturday night!! Instead of a Tux, she showed up with a vampire costume and we went out with some of her old college friends. I saw a side of NOLA I haven't seen before!
I almost talked her into letting me leave the RV in Algiers and going from there, but that didn't fly!!XL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum -

Thanks to @nolaegghead and his wonderful wife and family for hosting this great event. It was a good thing @bgebrent and I attended or there would not have been any Brisket unless @travisstrick boiled one. It was nice meeting all the new eggheads and seeing old friends. Kit had a great time as well. Looking forward the the next event._________________________________________________Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!Large BGE 2006, Mini Max 2014, 36" Blackstone, Anova Sous Vide

Gold?

-
Dang- even with all the distractions, I would hate to hose-up a Gold. With that investment I'm sure there was a decent level of attention paid to the cook. And the out-come confirmed it was an overwhelming success.
Most eggcellent gesture and result.
Edit: were any of the Gold consumers aware of the pedigree at the time or was the clarity discovered later??
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
I knew it was an SRF, but I didn’t know it was a Gold. I don’t think that was widely known. I did a Gold one two years ago at Brisket Camp, and it was quite good, but nowhere near as good as this one. It got a lot of attention from the crew there - they definitely nurtured it.lousubcap said:Dang- even with all the distractions, I would hate to hose-up a Gold. I believe this was put out towards the end of the day. There were a few dedicated stragglers waiting for brisky, but I think most of those partaking were indoctrinated eggheads, so they kinda knew what was going down . These guys threw down a fine brisky, proven by the fact that it was gone in about as long as it takes to cook a Neapolitan pizza.lousubcap said:Dang- even with all the distractions, I would hate to hose-up a Gold. Thank you brother. We're pretty proud of the briskets. Scott helped a bunch. Highlight for me was your goat cook, slathered in chimi churi and red pepper salsa. That was the highlight. And yet, our briskets didn't suck. Carey provided one of the 2 we ran on Scots Shirley. We'll be be back next year to keep brisket camp honest.caliking said:

This eggroll was particularly amazing:

I will post a video of its composition upon the completion of it importing from my Google Photos to Youtube. My memory of this most epic eggroll was revived as I watched said video. Prior to the watching of the video, I did not remember the assembly details of this most epic of all times eggroll.They/Them
