There have been some disagreements going round and round about the prime whole strip from Costco at $9.99 lb. with $25 off at checkout. I bought two last night and there were only 5 left in the cooler so they had been a bit picked over. I broke the larger one down tonight to freeze and the smaller is wet aging until I decide what to do with it.
So I sliced 11 1" steaks and 4 1.5" steaks. I then trimmed them and that was right at 30oz. That made the final price per lb $10. Are they AAA prime? No. But they are half the price.
If you don't like what is available then ask them if they have something better in the back. If you buy something that really sucks take it back.
So once again you be the judge if they were worth it.
PS: I will render the trimmings for tallow.

Judging from the pics, I'm gonna say yes, or maybe no.

Those actually look pretty good. Nice marbling. 15 steaks would last us a long time.

I picked one up and cut it that night. I would say that mine looked about like yours and both the wife and I were pleased with the marbling. No, it isn't Waygu, but I thought it looked pretty good.EggMcMcc

@GrillSgt - definitely look worth it from here. Costco is charging $15/lb for their big prime ribeye steaks as a comparison.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

To me it looks high choice. I bet it will taste fantastic!“There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body.”

Bought one myself, if you know how to season, prep and trim they are great !LBGE, and just enough knowledge and gadgets to be dangerous .

I'd hit that all night long at that price.

I was one of those not blown away by the full loin I purchased, but more so because the already cut choice ones they were selling for $7 a pound looked just as good. Having said that, I would have no complaint at the price of the full loin if mine looked as good as yours.Stillwater, MN

Not a bad deal. Looks fine."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Quick update. I broke the other one down into 15 steaks today. The downside was there was more waste, the upside was they had better marbling.

Is that what we call Sirloin, looks like it? Nice grilled as a chunk a well, 4 or 5 inches thick reverse sear. Sirloin here is normally around £15 per lb, double what you paid.
