    And that's why my lovely wife taught 2nd grade.  Kindergarden's didnt't know how to line up, 2nd graders were still small enough she could pick them up and put them in their place.  4th graders were starting common core math.  She retired at 50!

    Retiring at 5-0 is nice!  You both enjoy every minute of it.

    Wife is out of town for a couple of days, so I'm in charge of the kiddos. It's pretty quiet right now - they're all asleep, so I'm just checking out some of their toys, puttering around.  

    The oldest daughter has a pretty cool water bottle - this thing holds ice better than my Yeti!

    It's beyond ridiculous.  Teaching the kids to think in such a foolish way is mind abuse.  Btw, I think common core calls for something more along the lines of whiskey.

    Really.  We must keep out kids focused on solving the equations and memorizing their multiplication tables, and not focus on higher cognitive development in math that connects real world problem and scholastic curriculum that is evidence-based.  100% behind ya, Blasting.  Damn kids will start hacking stuff if they are too smart.

    Totally not mocking you (that much).  I didn't take it either.  I sorta did figure out the alternative relationships on my own because I was terrible at math, but ended up with a minor in it despite that.

    It's just an effort in evidence based practice applied to standardize education so colleges can have apples to apples when accepting applicants.  Doesn't make kids libtards or anything like devil worshipers.

    I agree.  Actually, the majority of mathematics, after basic geometry, is ridiculous.  

    Matrices, and equations and sh!t?
    Yep, I've used that college Finite Math A LOT, in the real world.  Hell, I've never even compounded interest. Lol
