I wish this cook was for a happier event, but its a celebration nonetheless.
Close friends of ours lost their younger son to brain cancer last week, after fighting it for several years. He would have been 14 next month. Loved baseball, playing the drums, and cooking. He would help his mom in the kitchen starting from when he was a toddler, and would hang with me when I was cooking or bbq'ing. He once told me that he loved the smell of burning charcoal, and the flavor it gave to the food. And he was 8yo at the time!
His cremation was today, so SWMBO asked that I burn some lump in his memory. I obliged. Nothing fancy - just cheeseburgers on the LBGE.
80/20 patties with sharp cheddar.
Homemade buns. Apparently there is some magic to getting the seeds to stick to the buns.
My plate - extra cheese, sriracha mayo, tomato, japs, squirt of bbq sauce, lettuce. Pro tip - Boston lettuce is not for burgers.
They turned out well.
'Cue on, Archit. We miss you.

Nice cook. Sad story. My sympathies to you and your friends.

I'm empathetic to the family. It's more tragic when children go having otherwise had a chance to grow old. We should all support scientific research in cancer...it's not unreasonable to think we may cure it in our lifetime.
Food looks excellent, as usual Dr.

A fitting tribute for the young lad.
I know you'll stay close, and help that family carry on through the most difficult of times.
Peds Onc is the toughest inpatient specialty IMO.
Second would probably go to the Burn Unit.
Then ICUs.

Very sad time for all involved, nice way for remembrance. I hope his family and friends will be able to move past the overwhelming emotions and eventually remember him without sadness.A bison’s level of aggressiveness, both physical and passive, is legendary. - NPS
