Greetings Eggheads! I think I'm hooked...
Two weeks ago the dear wife came home with a large BGE wedged into the backseat of her four door sedan. Once I got past the extreme aggravation (and pain) of removing it from her car, and squeezing it into its nest, I thanked her for the extravagant and unnecessary gift (I have Weber Genesis and kettle...). Of course, I fired it up that evening - kept the heat low - took baby steps with some boneless chicken breasts (I know - boring...).
Next cook, I stepped it up a bit - cut up a whole ovenstuffer roaster - hit it with some homemade rub. About an hour later, quite tasty. Next day, the girls left town - I ate leftover chicken (quite happily).
Next day, I picked-up and extra thick NY strip on the way home. Got the temp up to 350-ish, 3 minutes each side - pulled it off and covered while I jacked the temp to 600-ish. Finished with a 1 minute per side sear. Very good.
Next day, I joined the girls in Florida (never again between April and October...). Surprisingly, I spent large portions of any quiet time thinking about my Big Green Egg, and future cooks...
Got home yesterday - picked up NY strips for the girls, and a 1.5+ inch ribeye for me... Similar cooking method - reverse sear - but adjusted for thickness and number of steaks. Happiness all around...
Today, I wanted ribs! Got 2 racks of St. Louis style. Skipped the rub in favor of just salt and pepper. I don't have a plate setter, so rigged-up indirect cooking by pulling the guts out of an old smoker and inserting in the egg. Will post photos of the finished ribs later...
Ok...looks like I'm hooked! I've very much enjoyed reading the forum these last 2 weeks, and I'm looking forward to many a good meal.
John
Ok, I wrote that a few days ago, but it got hung-up in "new guy limbo", so it needs to be updated. Since then, pork chops, chicken thighs "Maryland style", and then last night was salmon.
I think I have a problem...

Welcome and you don't have a problem. When you cook so much that you don't have room in two fridges and freezers for the left overs, then you might have a problem. Of course, you really have a problem when you start feeding the neighborhood cause you like to cook so much. Keep the cooks and pictures coming.

Thanks all for the warm welcome! Today's only cook was a side dish to take to my brother's house - I call it chili frijole con queso. Roasted poblanos, pinto beans, garlic, cayenne, red ale, and a dose of queso.
