I have a Cajun fryer and burner but it does not have a control for the burner similar to a gas stove. I want to get a small propane burner to use outside with CI skillets or lodge 9 qt pot with insert for frying. does anyone have one and where to get.

Have you considered a small induction stove or one of those single burner butane stoves available at most Asian supermarkets? The butane canisters they run off of are pretty inexpensive.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Just saw a portable induction burner at IKEA on Saturday for $45. They're new and I don't see them on the website yet. I will be grabbing one when I go back in a week or so.

Try your local bottled gas distributor.....if you have one. The ones the big box stores don't seem to have a high BTU output. Another option is have a metal / welding shop build one for you. There is always Coleman.Ellijay GA with a Medium & MiniMax

If you have the space, a two burner, like the Camp Chef, can be bought for <$100 when on sale. 30000BTU per burner allows you to boil large pots of water, deep fry, and searing is hard to beat. Once you have experienced the temp control on a high output burner, you probably will not use your egg to wok. There are some single burner units out there, but they are almost the same cost as a two.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Something like this:
They are about $20 or less at most Asian stores. Don't get an American brand like Sterno because they have "safety " features that are annoying without making the thing that much safer.
@DMW I think I got one at Costco for $60 a couple of years ago. Asian supermarkets here have those for cheaper too.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX. -

+1 on Induction. Very safe way to deepfry with a dutch oven outdoors.

I use this NuWave. It's portable and easy to use. Any magnetic pan/pot will work. Works very well with cast iron.

I use both a single induction burner and just an old fashioned burner for a turkey fryer. Both are fine but, the induction burner gets more usage.
PSA>>> if using an induction burner "gradually" heat your CI or it'll warp the piece.

If you have a local brewers supply around you'll have several options...

I use large steel plate on my deep fryer burner. Works to even out the heat and can control the heat all across the Cast Iron Skillet. The one I have is like 1/2" thick and i had a guy cut it ti fit the burner ring. Then he added some short feet to keep it from sliding off. We use the burner to deep fry fish at night on our fishing excursions and make gravy at breakfast. Works real good.

You were thinking about a blackstone griddle weren't you? What about something like this:

It looks like it is $179 everywhere (Amazon, walmart, lowes).Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
