I have no doubt that a visit to your place would be well worth any time and expense.
Maybe one day.
Back on topic, I've seen U2 once - in 1990. It was great. It's good to see that they have kept it going this long.XXL BGE, Karebecue, Klose BYC, Chargiller Akorn Kamado, Weber Smokey Mountain, Grand Turbo gasser, Weber Smoky Joe, and the wheelbarrow that my grandfather used to cook steaks from his cattle

I saw that festival and looks like a great time. Unfortunately I already have too much on the plate to make it. I've already talked some buddies into going next year though. Luckly, Kenny, Jonny, and Joe will be playing locally here through out the year and hope to see them.YukonRon said:
Blues is my preferred genre. By Far. You should come down for Bourbon and Beyond, The Blues Fest in Kentucky. Gary Clark Jr. will be there, as will Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Joe Bonamassa, Eddie Vedder, and dozens more. End of September, should be perfect.saluki2007 said:Not a U2 fan myself, but looks like you had a blast Ron. We are heading up Thursday evening for the Blues Fest. If nothing else is said about U2 on this thread, I hope what follows provides insight as to what these guys are doing:Foghorn said:YukonRon said:

There is no possible way to compare or contrast U2 against any other band on the cicuit this year.
After going to the Us and Them tour featuring Roger Waters, then coming to this event, these two shows are diametrically opposed. Both were excellent. Both had a message.
Roger Waters focus was government and political issues, which at this time, is what most folks ate caught up in. His attention was about what is wrong, and what needed to be done to fix the issues at hand.
U2, was focused on what is right with the USA, and expressed their gratitude, throughout the evening, focusing on humanitarian issues plaguing the world, what we have done vs. the rest of the world, to help solve these issues.
America has a lot to be proud of, and for. There is more right with us than wrong. Their appreciation for us and what we have done for their charities that have focused on humanitarian relief, is far more than the rest of the world combined.
George W. Bush, with his action has provided more money and direction for AIDS, than the rest of the world combined. He did this with the support of U2.
If you are into concerts, this is a must see show. You will leave knowing there are a lot of good people everywhere, that still dream to come to the United States of America. Or if you are in Ireland, "The next burrough over to the west.""Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I will envy your Ireland excursion. You know they are going to have great voices joining them from all over the island.bgebrent said:

You better take plenty of pictures, and keep us up on the show from there.
It will be as @JohnInCarolina said " a religious experience." Being in Ireland, for that show, will be a fabulous experience."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Reminds me of the old joke: why did God invent alcohol? Answer: to prevent the Irish from ruling the planet. (I'm Irish so I can tell this joke)"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike
"The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand." - Deep Throat -
We owe a lot to the Irish. I really think the potato famine may have had almost as much influence upon the Irish, as the understanding that Bourbon was here. After a month of sharing their national whiskey, I could accept such a theory.JohnInCarolina said:

Seriously though, I apologize to all I have offended, with the defense of the French and their country, and our heritage. I can take a joke as well as anyone. I just have no favor for broad generalizations from anyone, degrading others, with having no idea of what they speak. Italy is Italy, a beautiful land steeped in history that helped form the world.
France, is also just as important, and beautiful as well. Freedom and equality were inspired there. Both of their gifts to the world, prosper here."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Not totally sure that this event could be seen with my camera expertise. It is a huge banner of one of the subjects (a young syrian woman) which shared her thoughts about what the USA means to the rest of the world in the video montage. It was passed throughout the stadium.
