Indianapolis Eggfest -- something out of the ordinary

For those within driving distance of Indianapolis, I would highly recommend this Eggfest on May 20th.
I've cooked at it a couple of times and have been hugely impressed. If you want to cook with your own recipe, you have to get it approved well in advance, but most people just go with whatever they are assigned.
They provide all the food, already pre-prepared, with detailed instructions on how to cook it. The dishes are absolutely top notch, as you would expect from a very experienced chef who owns the operation.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this year, since I'll be traveling, but I would encourage anyone to get into this one.

Hmmmm, must get approval "well in advance to cook your own recipe" or "must cook the pre-prepared food" then it sounds like there are some stringent public health codes in place there. If not that then some insurance agent's underwriter has the sponsor scared to death! Sounds like the normal Creative Eggfest cooker need not put this Eggfest on their list! I really hope for the sake of Eggfests everywhere that this sponsorship mentality doesn't spread! Otherwise the death knoll for Eggfests has begun!

This isn't the "typical" eggfest that has been in Indy. That one is much larger and sponsored by Sullivan hardware.

That said, I really want to check this out! Chef JJ turns out some quality grub

Me bad! I didn't bother to click on that link! $42 to attend? Huh? Good luck Charlie Brown!

By no means did I mean to besmirch the reputation of Chef JJ. I was just saying for a couple to spend $84 to attend an "Eggfest" is just a long stretch! There are freebie Eggfests closer to the Circle City for no cost or less and probably more newbie friendly. The want-to-be egger might get a more realistic idea of what he/she can expect to do on their own vs some "stand up and snack on" foods for $84.

@RRP understood. No harm, no foul. I'm with you on the price. I want to check it out, but not for $42

I attended this 'fest in 2015 as a newbie Egger. Not knowing any better, I paid $70 for 2 tickets, and while the food was great and we had a good time, it wasn't worth $70 to me. When they sent me an invite last year with the increased price of $42 each, I just laughed and said no thanks!

Chef JJ is an Egg dealer in Indianapolis with 2 locations and operates mostly as a private event and corporate team building facility serving food cooked on the BGE. He also offers grilling classes that regularly sell out at a cost of $60 per ticket. I've always wanted to attend one of these, but I can't imagine learning much more from him than what I can gather on here for free.
