Blackstone - SIMPLE grease trap fix + Accessories

Lots of new Blackstone owners / interest. I've got a hack for the grease trap challenge that costs about 6 dollars and takes 30 seconds. If you look under your channel, there is a tack weld meant to keep the grease from running along the underside. Problem is, it's too far to the left and sometimes the grease misses the grease cup.

In the pic below, you can see the factory "nubb" on the left. All I did was form a little JB Weld (high heat) to change the drip point, and now it hits the cup. That half inch makes all the difference in the world.

Lastly, I thought it may be of some use to other users to post a pic with my most common accessories. If anyone else has other stuff, I'd love to see it. I know cazzy has a butter roller and pancake dispenser he likes.

Great tip! Another good accessory is a bunch of cheap white (or any color) terry cloth rags to clean like they use at the Japanese Steak House.

3" egg rings. Going back for 5" hashbrown rings. They were out of stock.

@theyolksonyou so the hashbrown rings... do you push the hashbrowns in to form a patty then?

the turner second from the left in my pic was bought specifically to turn hashbrowns, but they are kinda loose. I like the idea of a ring.

@blasting Yep, it forms a patty. When you go to Waffle House and don't order scattered, you get a patty. I know that's a regional-ish reference, but you get the picture.

Where are you finding the rings?

I'll be honest...I haven't had great hash browns on my blackstone. I have found I can do better in a CI skillet that holds the oil. I like them really crispy. Would love some hash brown tips!

@slovelad RD: The three blue handled turners on the right, white handle griddle scraper, the squeeze bottles, and curly cleaners (The rest from Amazon.)

I highly recommend the turner on the far left for smashburgers. I just picked it up - its a 6x5 and is heavy duty.

I just tried this fix - it is curing now. I made it a little longer so that the grease will cling to it and then drip into the tray, kind of like a directional funnel. We'll see what happens.

What is the plastic board all the devices are laid out on? Seems perfect to protect the griddle from water intrusion and double as a cutting board. Looks like the cover will fit over it. Could possibly take a router to it to stabilize it with the rails. I will definately try your drip fix. Mine makes a mess.

@CtTOPGUN That is a piece of corian I repurposed. It has turned out to be a teriffic cover and additional work counter. Somewhere there is a thread on it. (not home right now, or I'd locate it for you)

The longer piece works great.

I also used thick fender washers under the three griddle posts other than the one above the grease trap to ensure an appropriate drain tilt. Below is a picture of the ones I obtained from Lowe's. The necessary hole size is 5/16 or 8 mm. I was going to use a few regular washers but came across these which worked great.

Here is an email I sent to Blackstone.....we'll see what their response is.

After using the Blackstone 36 a few times, I discovered a flaw in the drip edge into the grease trap. The welded bead allows grease to travel behind the grease trap and cause it to leak on the leg and floor. I am on several forums and there are many complaints on this. It would be an easy fix to have a small welded channel instead of a welded bead. Just wondering if there are going to be any fixes to this issue in the future. Other then that, I LOVE THE PRODUCT!!!
