Your opinion is based from never seeing the product. The old BGE Mini Nest ring actually supports the weight of the Mini. Kamado Joe stand upper ring only works as a stop/shifting ring. The lower support bears the weight. The ring on the old BGE Mini had issues with cracked bases. KJ has no issies with their stands.
