I would not have said that. However, given in actual context, it is not 1/1000 as bad as what nola posted originally.
How is it that we invite and welcome Japanese men who participated in the attack to the ceremony, but we can not say that the plan and carrying out of that plan was done well? -

pgprescott said:I find his views on this subject pretty much in line with his views on flag burning. Just because it's wrong doesn't make it unconstitutional. Just because it shouldn't be done, doesn't mean it cannot be done. Correct? My entire point is the Liberal Judges want to make law. Your example is a textbook example of where a law should be passed, not a Supreme Court Ruling. Maybe I missed something.
Congress did in fact pass a law pertaining to burning the US flag - the Flag Protection Act. What did that law do? It codified a ban against burning the flag.
What did SCOTUS then do? They reiterated what they said just a year earlier - No you can't make that law because we said that activity, regardless how many heads it causes to explode, is protected by the 1st Amendment as symbolic free speech.
Make law or protect our constitutional rights? I guess it depends on which judges are "activist judges".
Congress attempted to get a Flag Desecration Amendment passed a decade or so ago. It failed. Perhaps the mood of the country will change enough that such an important issue such as stopping a handful of knuckleheads from burning our flag each year (does it even happen that often?) will be passed by the Congress. But then also has to be passed by nearly 40 state legislatures.
Maybe Trump will make that an important goal of his time in D.C.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -

People should read "At Dawn We Slept" by Gordon Prang. University of Maryland Professor who was in the Navy during WWII and was then commissioned to stay in Japan and investigate how the attack was coordinated from the Japanese side. Tora! Tora! Tora! was based on his research.

If any of you were wondering what Jason @theyolksonyou was referring to with his comment last night about a lot of sucking going on around here, this is it.
Fair winds and following seas to those Americans who perished 75 years ago.

Calm down downy sensitive people. I had thought I put a trigger alert in here somewhere. Newt posts some inappropriate tweet and now y'all are all butt hurt. Man up and grow some damn epidermis with hair on it. Read my posts.

Man up? Seriously? Man up? This coming from someone who went into a bunker after the election? Thanks for the funniest thing I have seen or heard in years!!

nolaegghead said:That theory might hold water if I hadn't more or less stopped posting after brisket camp which was weeks before. I think I made maybe 5 posts after Oct 22 and a few days ago. I told a bunch of eggers via text weeks before I was burned out on the forum. It was a lot of fun hearing about the theories I wasn't on because Cheeto Jesus won the election."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

My FIL fought on Iwo Jima and in Korea, was part of the post war occupation of Japan - lived with a Japanese family. Went on to become the Marine reserve Col over a multi-state region and electrical engineer day job for the local baby Bell.

Furall said:You know I never post here. Just read a lot. But for once it would be nice if you and your little buddy could refrain from seeing who can be the bigger ass and show some respect for the people who lost their lives 75 years ago. The above comment is the tackiest I have seen on this forum and that's quite a feat.
I'm so sorry! -
John is a terrible person. He's denigrated women by saying he'll grab 'em by the p***y, insulted and attacked gold-star families, called POWs losers because they got caught, and on and on. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger ass, and I apologize for him.
Now this, the last straw to this forum member (likes Nikons, so probably not Japanese, as they like the superior Canons)...trying to contrast Newt Gingrich's comment on the very anniversary of Pearl Harbor that the Japanese displayed "professional brilliance" in their attack is like complementing the Germans on building great ovens on the anniversary of V-day. That is absolutely not a contrast using sarcasm to prove a point. I think he must have really meant it. Literally, actually. Like those ovens were brilliant, like commercial Blodgetts (which I must admit, are great, very very great). Newt did say, in context, we need to be on high fkn alert about sneaky stuff that happened seventy something years ago by brilliant Japanese strategists. That's totally appropriate as we try to morn our dead in the worst attack in American history.
I might not be totally accurate about what John actually said, but again, I apologize profusely for it for him. I hope you accept this apology, and read the entire post before commenting on anything so you don't miss any of the details.

If you are still upset, I am very empathetic. There is a thread that is safe, and you can go there and I guarantee you that there will be no tacky posts (although I must admit John effed the pooch on this thread) as I police it by saying calm things and chastising those that do not conform to the spirit of safe zones. And, everyone gets a trophy if they behave. Again, my sincerest apologies. Sincerely, with fkn sugar on top, nola.
